NWA - a lesson in listening to your gut

So, I’ve had the SARB033 on my watchlist with one coming at ‘market’ price with secondary bracelet thrown in. Looked good so took the plunge. On arrival watch was as described but just stopped a few mins after opening. Luckily had taken a video of the opening so sent that to the seller, who agreed to a return. Seller contacted me stating the watch had a bit of dust in the movement and now was working with a video (including a timegraph). Um’d and ah’d about it and took the plunge again and accepted the watch back (it was at this point I should have listened to my gut and took the refund). Watch came back and looked good, was working as stated now……..after a week or so it started to play up again, would run fine in the watch box but on the wrist would stop suddenly but restart. Was now in deep so needed a solution. Contacted Seiko to get a service and also decided to change the bezel which had a slight knock to it. That was another £175 plus VAT on top of purchase.

6 week gone by and watch now back and working well. What Seiko have done is change the complete case so watch looks like new. Not sure how I feel about that but guess I now have a watch to make my own memories with……not sure it was worth the total cost though

Not sure why you'd want the other person's memories/scuffs. Yes, you had to pay a bit more, but a new case sounds like a win to me and an opportunity to have a mint watch at the price.

These are great watches. You will make great memories with it. Enjoy.

It looks fantastic, you would have fomo-ed if you had let it go

A serviced movement, a new case and a story to tell. Result. 😉

·

£175 for a new case + movement is a good deal.

Hope you get many years enjoyment from it.

Perhaps you can answer a Q on this particular model?

So there is lume on the middle of each of the hour and minute hands. But there is also a thin white line running to the tips (both ends) of the hour and minute hands. Are those thin white line luminescent or not?

Seen this point raised a few times but never actually closed off.

Thank you

Any excuse to get the UV torch out……….the results are in……a big fat no

👍 definitive - thank you for putting that to bed! That was my best guess but good to actually know now.

The SARB033 is an icon and £175 for a brand new case and movement is frankly a very good deal. Don't feel bad, you clearly did not overpay for this. Enjoy! 👌

Did they put a new 6r15 or 6r35?

Seiko serviced the 6R15 already in it rather than replace
