My new (& 1st) Orient

I have wanted this watch for approx 4 months when the pics videos started online. Unfortunately Orient made a mistake on the dial so that delayed release in the US until recently. Sapphire Crystal, 39.9 x 12.8, hacking, checked my boxes. Oh yeah... It's PURPLE! I didn't have a purple watch & really liked the look in pics. In person I like it even more. I feel the stainless bezel goes great with the purple dial. Because I don't care for NATO straps, I was expecting to replace the OEM strap immediately as I assumed the thickness of a leather NATO would be too thick under the watch. However, this strap is nice and thin so even with the two layers, it doesn't sit too tall. I don't know much about leather so maybe it's a cheap strap & that's why it's thin, but I really like this one.

I am really looking forward to giving this watch a lot of wrist time.

Nice score! Congratulations, it looks great and I am sure it was worth the wait!

It's the RA-AC0Q07V10B if anyone wanted the model number

(& Yeah... Took pics before I set the date)

It seems they fixed the dial problems. Right?

If height ever becomes an issue, just remove/cut off the additional strap.

Originally that second piece was for helping to center watches with larger lugs, and other reasons back when units got issued a strap and a watch, then later, got a newer "large" dive watch at the ridiculous size of 39mm....my how times have changed...🤏🏻😉😂

And cool watch, missed the odd spaced dial, which is the one I wanted, YMMV of course.

Yeah, I wanted the one with the mistake, but I'm ok settling for this one.

The 2 things I don't care for with NATOs is the double thickness under the watch and having to tuck the extra length in the last keeper so cutting off the extra piece only solves 1/2 my issues, but I appreciate your suggestion. I did try that on an inexpensive NATO I had.

For nylon straps I really like the Chevron from Crown & Buckle - it's a single pass nylon strap at an adjustable "regular" length, I have several and really like them in the summer. They also offer a delete option for the extra piece on one of their NATO models and I have one of those.

A month or so ago I picked up a single pass leather strap from Vario and that's not bad. It's the "normal" length but the 2nd keeper is too loose and does not stay in place- I might try glueing it in place.

I realize I am being very specific with my strap "needs" and it may see a little unreasonable to some people. 🤔

I love steel bezels, looks stunning, I'm sure the dial is even nicer in natural light

It does look better in real light... But the time I got around to pictures the sun had set - I'll post up tomorrow a sunlit pic in the WRUW

About bezels... Stainless.. I know right? I was all about sapphire bezels then fell in love with my Zodiac for it's vintage style with the stainless bezel, then I picked up a red Nodus and chose the stainless option. I am definitely leaning toward stainless these days.

It’s a great looking watch! Wear it well!

·

Ah they fixed the printing on the dial. I might reconsider this piece.

·

I would loved to have gotten one of the originals with the misprinted dials as it would have been a unique piece down the road. However, it is a good looking piece...congratulations.

Thanks - I'm very happy with it. It looked great out in the sunshine today

I wanted the mistake dial.... But I'm happy to settle for this one
