I want the mistake!

I'm going to buy the Orient RA-AC0Q07V once it's available at "regular" price but I really want one with the mistake on the dial. I love the idea of owning one of the 1st edition of these with the mistake everyone missed. It's a great story, unique, and I bet these will eventually sell for a healthy mark up.

(Plus I love this color, size, & stainless bezel)

That is excellent!

Sorry... I thought everyone saw the coverage on this. Look at the spacing of the minutes track between 26 & 27. This extra wide gap is on all the prototypes, production models, original promotion photos, original marketing, etc. Somehow this made it past a lot of people all the way into the stores before it was noticed.

·

The 26-minute marker is too close to the 25. I wouldn’t have seen it but some googling filled me in.

·

Last heard, the brand is aware of this and may do something to give a corrected one to satisfy the owners. Mark up is doubtful. Anyway, a good watch if you an look past the mistake.

Well, they might go up and its an individual choice and I like the watch also, I might get it one day but that fault would drive me nuts!

The reporting I have seen on it is all retail stock has been pulled (& I assume returned to Orient) and Orient is offering an exchange to anyone that received one and wants it. New stock will be corrected. The mistake version will be extremely rare for an Orient, there are many Orient brand fans globally, so I believe these will end up increasing in value.

The mistake would bug me if I didn't know about it before the purchase and the company wasn't fixing it and "recalling" the mistake version. But knowing it was a mistake that made it past sooo many people, in such a large company, really appeals to me as a unique watch.

I can see your point, it does appeal, but it would still drive me nuts ! I got an Alpinist a while back, and knew about the famous Seiko alignment problems, I got unlucky and it drives me nuts. But if your going into it eyes open fair enough, not a criticism btw ! It's a lovely watch.

I know it's weird, but an ongoing quality control issue (Seiko alignments) would bother me. A mistake that the company acknowledged, fixed, & tried to recall all the units with the mistake is somehow desirable to me.

It there was one run, of one model Seiko with an alignment issue and it never happened again, I bet there would be a (small) demand for those.

I highly doubt models with this defect are going to go up in price. If anything, I think ADs will try to dump it all on the grey market at a hard discount as soon as the new batch is ready in a few months. But I can understand the appeal of owning a first batch watch with a fun story to tell.

Ben's Watch Club had a whole video dedicated to it. He liked the watch apart from the glaring dial error. I'll likely pick up the white dial version when they are available again.

It's supposed to retail for around $300 US - I'd pay and extra $50 for the "mistake" version just to have something different than the thousands(?) (I don't know how many Orient will sell) of fixed versions everyone else will have. Especially since the mistake is hard to spot. It's like an insider thing.. you have to know to spot it. It makes the watch more interesting to me. Unfortunately I am not finding any for sale from sellers I want to do business with. Only a few on eBay for $370-$400, shipping from UAE and Malaysia - & no purple.

It’s like baseball error cards…at worse, it’s funny.
