Help and advice needed - Dresswatch

Hi guys, I've been up till now a sports watch collector. I'm now trying to get into dresswatches. Needs to be 40 to 42mm and have an exhibition back, any thoughts?

My first thought is something from Longines. Lots of options!

That's a nice piece and Longines is a brand that wasn't on my radar. Defintley worth a look. Thanks for the suggestion my friend.👍

Cartier De Santos

I've never owned a square watch, Cartier does tick the heritage, and very classy.

Could be an option, a Rolex dresswatch to compliment the sub. Which DJ model would you suggest?

Vacheron 1921 in yellow gold given your budget lol if 30k isn’t an option I would consider a rose gold Cartier Santos Dumont XL. I’m also a fan of the small seconds Omega Deville in red

Thanks, My budgets going to be around $12k, Cartier looking good here.👍

NOMOS or Glashutte Original. Maybe even JLC is you have the budget.

·

JLC master control. If you drop the case back requirement then definitely the reverso.

Would be a unique piece and my first non round watch!

I was going to say "jazzmaster" but i think that would look homeless in that collection of sexy you got there!

Nomos Orion, Ludwig, or Tangente

Thanks for your suggestion, Nomos is a brand which was not on my radar. However just had a look online, their exhibition caseback show a beautifully designed movement. 😃👍

I had thought of going for the MR01 blue, however the 36mm is just a bit small for me. The midri rotor though is just pure class.

A cut above the micro brand herd I think, also FredrickConstant and Christopher Ward

Your collection is crying out for a Grand Seiko

Here are a few different options

Right at the upper end of you go grey - ALS saxonia. Really classic dress watch and not sure if it's too dressy given your sports watch leaning.

Image

Slightly more modern and cheaper - LUC XPS. Less well known, but LUC makes solid watches and nice movements.

If you like the art deco look of Cartier, here's a different LUC 1937.

Neo-vintage dressy chronograph or more modern dress chronographs might be a way to go halfway to dressy from your steel sports watch lineup.

Thankyou for taking the time and providing suggestions. My fav of the three has to be the Frank Muller. What a dial, I didnt know the brand made watches of that style.😃👍

·

A couple people mentioned this, but just becasue you wear a lot of 40-42mm dive type watches, doesn't necessarily mean you should go for a similarly sized dress watch. Dress watches tend to be all dial and wear bigger than their size would suggest. I'm not saying you should go all the way down to 35mm, but don't discount a 38mm dress watch.

Yes, I'm going to rethink the 40/42mm size. As you say more dial has more wrist presence. Will open up to smaller diameter possibilities. Thanks👍
