How are things at your AD?

I am post this to getting a better understanding of how bad or good it really is out there. I have had nothing but great things to say about my AD. How hard is it really to get a Rolex call. Are y’all really on a waiting list for tudors? Do they give you the time and day when you go to look at watches. What are y’all experiencing?

Hmm, for me... ADs are great after a purchase... before a purchase is awful.

About Rolex... almost impossible to have a call for a sport model, the only calls i have from them are for a DJ, Explorer I and AirKing. It is not a secret that they offer sport models only after you buy a couple of pieces... and when I say "a couple" means +3 pieces...

Here where I live (Santiago de Chile), Tudor is a new brand and is kind of easy to find all the models, so no waiting list.

For me... the experience is a sh@$t... I'm not ok and I don't accept when de customer service is disrespectful.

I didn't really start trying for any Rolex till Mid May of '21.

First one I got, ZZ-blue Milgauss) was July '21 from my favorite AD....so six week wait. Second one I got was in October '21 after a two month wait...the Batman on jubilee (different AD). Third one was in November of '21 after four month wait (same AD as the first one), the Polar Explorer II. The last one was in October of '22 (same AD as first and third one), after a nine month wait, Pepsi on jubilee. I only bought the watches, nothing more and had never visited the AD where I got three till May '21 and the one where I got my 2nd till end of June '21.

I was treated great by both those places. Still am.

My AD generally has all Tudor models available except the Black Bay chronograph.

They haven’t had a Rolex in the display case for years except some more recent display only pieces. They offered an Explorer last year but I declined. I’ve been waiting over a year for a pink OP36 for my wife. They offered a pink OP34 but apparently it was the “wrong pink” for her. I don’t think there’s any chance of getting a Sub, GMTII, etc.

I’ve been dealing with 2 ADs. Both have always been respectful and provided a great service when I visited them.

I’m terms of Rolex, it’s been mixed. I bought an OP within 3 weeks of enquiring at the first AD and a DJ after a month or so at the second AD. I’m now awaiting the harder to get sports models such as GMT II and another DJ with a more in demand configuration.

as for other brands such as Tudor/Cartier/GS/Zenith, all models I’ve wanted have been available and some offered with a discount. The only one I waited for was a Pelagos 39 which I didn’t end up taking.

All in all, I understand to some degree from the AD perspective why they do what they do, and as long as they treat me with respect I don’t have any issues with them. In an ideal world of course we could just walk in and buy whatever we wanted, but where’s the fun in that?

I bought a Rolex OP 41 and datejust 41 with no purchase history. I am supposedly on the list for submariner or GMT master but I’ll believe it when I see it. The OP took 1.5 years to get after I initially inquired about it and I followed up pretty much monthly

Yeah I’m pretty much right there with you, do you live in a big metro area or in a smaller community.

That’s awesome, do you have multiple ad s in your area?

I feel I was treated pretty fairly they were nice whenever I went in and genuinely seemed to want to sell me a watch. I did see one guy on Instagram who got a green left handed GMT master from the sameAD like a day after it came out so I was a little upset I observed someone getting treated better than me with my own eyes but all in all I am happy I got my watches. If I get the call for the sub or GMT I’ll be really pleased because those are a couple grail level watches for me

I’m from London UK so there’s plenty of ADs to choose from!

Around late November I went into my local Tourneau to inquire about the wait, or lack of, for a Tudor Ranger. I got on my name down and was told I was the only one. I got the watch 12/31. Maybe a 5 week wait. They certainly had nearly every black bay available for purchase, just no Ranger. Again, this was a few months back and I didn’t bother asking the Rolex AD any questions.

I only have one Rolex AD in my state, and I've gotten nothing from them. What I decided to do was go to ADs within an eight hour drive. Two worked out very well. A third likely would have if the person I connected with hadn't become a manager at an AD that doesn't sell Rolex.

As a younger collector, my AD experience has been pretty typical I’d say. Most the people in store assume I can’t afford what they’re selling or just to seem to act a touch snobby since I haven’t had a purchase there yet. I was going to buy my Pelagos from them but they only had Black and I decided I wanted to go blue. Now I’m on a list for BB Pro with bracelet, and I think once I make a purchase the experience will change, but tbd. I just have a hard to want to spend money where customer service has been meh so far… TBD! It’s all a game but still pretty crazy to me lol

About a year ago, I went to Ben Bridge Jewelers in downtown Seattle, wanting to look at a PRX P80. When I entered, there was a Breitling display to my right. I was looking them over when an attractive Asian woman approached me and asked if she could help. Not wanting to misrepresent myself, I just said, "Well, I'm not really looking for a Breitling, I can't afford a watch like that." She was obviously perturbed and turned and walked out of my sight toward the back of the store. I started browsing the other watches when a tall bearded man approached me and asked me the same question again. I repeated that I wasn't looking for any of the premium brands and he retreated. I went over and started looking at some of the less expensive brands including the Hamilton I was interested in when a younger gentleman came out and asked, "Can I help you?" I just pointed at the Hamilton and said "Yeah I'd like to look at the Hamiltons." Fully expecting him to leave. He nodded and walked me over to the Hamiltons and showed me what they had. He was very polite we had a nice chat about watches and I bought the PRX. I found out he was Eric Bridge, a member of the family that owned the store, and was very kind and helpful. I have returned a couple of times since and met another salesman there named Ally who has a very nice guy and a vintage collector. We've had a couple of great talks. So I highly recommend them, just make sure you ask for Eric or Ally unless, of course, you're buying upscale, then the snobs will be very polite and kind to you, I'm sure.
