Does My Watch Have A Real Version?

My dad bought this Stauer for me when I was 20 and started showing interest in watches. 13 years later I still enjoy it, and it’s a staple in my collection.

That said, I know that Stauer’s claim is to make quality/accurate replicas of historic timepieces.

This has me wondering what the real version of my Stauer is… I have seen some close examples that I can definitely see the Stauer drawing inspiration from. But is there actually a vintage piece that looks like this Stauer? If so, I’d be super curious to try and obtain one some day. I love the dial and the blue hands/markers. I couldn’t imagine how beautiful the real watch is if there is one.

That's a tough one. I can see inspiration from a Vacheron Constantin Jubilee 240 47240. But it's really close to aCartier Yellow Gold Tortue Chronograph Monopoussoir.

Cartier Roadster is a likely inspiration.

Given the age of it, it is also quite possible it borrowed heavily from Daniel Roth at the time.

Looks like a Daniel Roth S177 without the Chrono

Yea, my immediate thought after looking at this case was - Daniel Roth. Distinct form you cannot forget :)

Important brand btw, in terms of history and man behind. He still makes watches as independent family brand Jean Daniel Nicolas and is true to his spirit
