How Cluttered do you like your dial?

When I started my watch journey I mainly focused on high visibility uncluttered dials. Numerals, seconds track and maybe a date complication was more than enough. Lately I have started looking at more complicated dials. I have a sudden and unhealthy obsession with the Breitling Navitimer Chronograph. In fact I was very close to picking up a Midi Patrimony with a pulsometet because it made my heart race. I really wanted a Seiko Alpinist but they don't wear well on my wrist so instead I opted for this bad boy (Seiko Prospex SRPA71). I like it because the dial is clear and the hands are very legible but the compass and dlc coated knurled bezel give it some interesting character.

What's your take on complicated dials?

One one extreme, I like & own this simple 3-hander with a date.

On the other extreme, I also want this, a watch more complicated than my Atari 2600 gaming console from the 80's

In my home life, I prefer clean, simple, classic designs & decor. Not quite minimalist, but close. Maybe minimalist with a tiny bit of flair or intricacy.

But watches? I all over the place.

I am a fan of a simple an uncluttered dial. 3 hands or a date window at the most.
Then I tried on the breitling endurance pro and that thing wears and looks incredible. Also a dressier chrono from Patek or JLC got me looking for a second time when I saw them.

So again I'm stuck with the same answer as always. Depends on the watch.

I normally appreciate simple, clean 3 handers. Typically vintage. But Sometimes I just get fed up with that and need something different. Nothing crazy. I have two chronos, two Hamilton field watches and the Longines Spirit if I need something different.

Most of my watches are five watches. They tend to be pretty simple. I’m also leaning towards no date! The busiest looking watch I go for is a chrono. Only because it’s a useful concept or a Casio G Shock.

I'm a simple man. But I can abide a day/date complication.
