Had a nice walk round the old cathedral and castle in the centre of Durham this afternoon.
range master mechanical on my wrist on one of the old stone brigades.
looking up to the castle above making my way up through the streets of shops and cafes.
now that’s what I call a knocker in we go.
a old clock
time to make my way over to the still working castle got a guided tour at 13:15
inside the castle court yard
the oldest part of the castle the over 900 years old pretty crazy
in the castle’s chapel
a very special archway and was the original entrance to the castle
it’s cool to think this now mostly student accommodation for Durham University and has been since the 1800s
A clock in the grand hall what is the dining hall for the students

Awesome pictures. I get very jealous of people who live in the old world, the architecture is beautiful beyond words. Here in the US, it is all strip malls and planned neighborhoods.
Great pictures. I love Durham but don't get there enough. Great backgrounds for a lovely watch

I know what you are talking about. I actually lived in England back in 2007 to 2009. I lived in Thetford in East Anglia. I have a lot of fond memories from that time in my life. I will say the US makes up for it lack of old world architecture with stunning natural scenery, especially out west.
Thanks for taking us on this tour Michael!

Yes, we’re very good at living in the past! Not so much at planning for the future 😀

That is one good thing about the US. There is so much open and uninhabited real estate. A lot of room for growth left.
The oldest building we have here (Minnesota) dates to to 1812. Most of the rest of the fort is reconstructed. But the round tower is original. Sorry, the only picture I have has my bike in it.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos Michael! Always had a thing for old castles and the architectures 👍

Nice watch and great pics. Brought back some good memories. I spent some time there in college and had a few classes in the buildings “on the green”. Hope to get back there someday. Thanks!
Im also a Durham resident 👍
Cool I’m a monkey hanger 🙈🤣
Great shot my friend. I love my RMM too! But as an American I don’t have buildings that old to have in my backdrops! Haha!
It looks so good out in the world!

Haha. 😂😂😂 I thought you meant Durham, North Carolina. There’s a large beautiful cathedral on the Duke University campus in Durham NC. I’m sure it can’t compare to Durham England.
Loved this story, Michael—and the watch, too! Wife and I visited friends in the UK recently. Can’t wait to return and see more of your beautiful country.
O
Thanks for sharing this experience/visit fantastic pictures beautiful clock's and great looking #longislandwatch
