Your Cartier Tank wallpaper is here | Tank Must Solarbeat Video

There’s a lot to be said for a watch design that, while it’s had its share of variations, is still just as popular in its original design as it was a century ago. I used to be entirely uninterested in the Tank, but I’ve since come around and find it to be a beautiful watch that’s in a class all by itself.

Lovely review. I think the Solarbeat is really hitting all the right notes for Cartier. Keeping to the timeless tank design but using solar power and vegan leather, with a very affordable pricing - Cartier is definitely cultivating the younger clientele where they value sustainability. the solarbeat may be the very first Cartier for many, and personally I know that once someone falls in love with their first Cartier, there will be many more Cartiers in time to come!

Actually, appreciate the macro shots of the dial face most. You are literally the first review since Hodinkee I’ve seen… so I was worried the photocells may come off poorly, potentially a violet hue to them but your video reassures me that is not the case!

Agree absolutely on all the notes on this being really a design-first watch. Cartier has put together a wonderful, uncompromising, and surprisingly budget-friendly little package with this release and agree it’s their most important in years 👌

Yeah I was totally expecting to see some difference with the macro but nothing!  Wish they'd put some sort of identifier on the watch you indicate it's solar though 🤔

Is there no indicator on the caseback? I had completely expected there to be something there.

The identifier was the ugly blue and green straps! What were they thinking?! Hahaha

i think they do not want to unintentionally create a ”lower-tier” product if you know what I mean. Like the Must Tanks in the past, it could have devalued their brand from their perspective, even though I love all the Must Tanks with all its various dial designs. 

but then again, when the Solar Beat enters the used market in a few years time, the only way buyers can verify is to request to open the case! so papers will be extremely important for Solarbeat when it enters the used market in the future.

I got mine last week, and I didn't wait a lot for it!! I called my SA and she told me that there is no watch left and they closed the waiting list due to lack of supplies. But she told me that if in any chance someone no longer want his watch when it arrives she would give me a call. And I was lucky that I received the call after only one week 😅 I'm so happy for that

Oooo good point, better keep those little tags because I don't think the papers even say solar. 

Called today Cartier Switzerland and they do not have this watch at the moment. They said maybe in March it should come again ... Enjoy your watches, who got them 😉

Max, I must say that your video has got me obsessing after this watch.  I watched the Hodinkee video on it but I knew it was not available -- no chance I would get one.  You have inspired me that these are out there and with a little patience it is achievable.  I am getting on the list and will patiently wait for the call.  Amazing watch with such great history, I am sold!
