The scratches!

The amount of micro and not-so-micro scratches on the bezel is kinda unexpected. I've had this watch for 3 months, there has not been a day I've not worn it, yeah, but I don't work in a coal mine either.

Kinda unexpected. Maybe my next watch will have some kind of hardness coating or something like that. What's your experience? How about DLC coated watches?

My Direnzo is hardness coated (forgot the rating) and honestly I’m impressed with how well it’s held (got this June 2021). The smooth bezel has nearly nothing, but the butterfly clasp and the links at the underside have been quite brushed up lol.

Then again, I’m not one to notice scratches that much.

You can think of it as a battlescars, or you can just polish it with cape cod if it bothers you too much

Battlescars... But where is the battle? The epic 202402 battle of the coffee maker at the office? I won't polish that, I wonder how it will look in 5 years time, I think it will be interesting. And it will somehow look better than new.

Living is a struggle for me 😂

Such is the way of polished stainless, but I dig it. I only have one spot of polishing on any watch, my Khaki Auto bezel, but the scratches don't bother me. I tend to prefer brushed mostly because it's less shiny, but I like the feel of metal that was once polished and is now "field brushed." If I ever buy an omega, it won't be long until most of the case looks like that, but it'll still be pretty.

If you don’t want scratches, don’t wear the watch and keep it in the box.

·

The same here with my SPB159 Baby Alpinist. I can live with it. But I didn't know that from my super hard-coated Seiko "Diashield" MM200. Safe to say: Diashield works

True. It's really the only way.

A watch is meant to be worn and enjoyed, it will always pick up scratches, just enjoy your time with it

·

I wonder what watch coal miners do wear

·

oh yeah my baby alpinist is scratched to hell and back, that’s just how it be

·

I like scratches

It's as it should be

·

That's the downside of polished steel! Shows scratches easily.. however on a field watch it just shows it's been used, so I don't mind on mine..

·

Do you have the model or number on that watch? I really like it. (Even with the scratches 😉)

It's not scratched, it's field brushed. Nice 😁👌

It's not like I want it to look pristine, I wear the watch all the time, but it's still a bit surprising how it looks after three months of office wear.

Awesome! Thankd

Looks great. The bezel on my Explorer39 is so full of micro scratches that it now sits between polished and brushed.

Embrace the scratches, watches are meant to be worn!

Scratches are a price paid for actually wearing and enjoying a watch. Nothing stays perfect forever!
