Watches and knives

I am a big fan of edc collecting and these two items are my favourite things to collect in this genre. I often get asked why I like collecting both and it is occasionally a tough question as if I was to focus on one I could probably build up a better collection. However, every now and then I find a watch and knife combination that fits well together.
Does anyone else like to match their watches to things other people don’t think of matching them with?

Thank you I really like the opinel but after getting 2 Higonokami knives I decided that I’d only be buying ones with pocket clips now. Opinel knives are really good though.

As a matter of fact yes I do 😁

I don't see a lot of Certina watches, but I have always liked them, your is super cool.

Nice but maybe not as practical😂. Leatherman also have a watch called the Tempo Tread I think where each link in the bracelet is a different type of screw bit. A cool idea and ok in a pinch if you don’t need much torque but a bit useless compared to a regular sized equivalent.
They are fun though.

That’s a wicked looking knife👌  I’ve been looking into Zero Tolerance.

I'd feel like the poor mans James Bond with that it's awesome! lol

Knives are so easy to make and watches so easy to mod that you could do your own creations. Cheap grinder from Harbour freight with cut off and grinding disks. Tons of options for a Seiko mod with cheap watch tool set and a loupe.

Thanks! It's one of my favorites and a present from my wife. It is a ZT 0642 Sinkevitch design and they've been discontinued but are still available so if you like it I would get one while you can.

Cheers

Actually just in the process of making my first knife now. It’s going to be a fixed blade. I don’t really go in for modifying watches unless we’re talking about straps. Took apart my Swatch Irony and put it back together and it was almost more trouble than it was worth. Almost😉

if you heat your blade and let it air cool you remove temper to work with it. then heat it and quench in oil to restore temper and bake in your oven for hardness.

That looks awesome man😎. I like how you’ve got the leathermans as well. I’m a big Leatherman fan and have a Squirt  ps4, a style ps, Wave + and Surge +.

That looks great mate. I like how you were able to match the colours and the tag just tops it off.

I am new to knives but I really like te hogue. My son in law and I saw it at smokey mountain knower works and I like how it looked and felt in my hand. I like the locking mechanism and the blade is CPM 20CV steel. I read that it keeps its sharpness and sedge for a long time between sharpening.

Yes. 20cv is excellent steel.

Those are some nice blades. Big Spyderco fan?

Newb question: what is "edc"?

I don't worry about the knife matching my watch; it stays clipped inside my pocket to begin with. Most people don't even realize that I have it on me.

Anyways, the knife that I carry is a Spyderco Endura 4, and it has served me well in the three years or so that I have had it. It was recommended by my son's Tae Kwon Do instructor, and I must say, his advice was spot on. The knife is extremely well made and engineered.

The pen that I use does match my watch, but it's not a fountain pen. However, just like the Spyderco, my pen (a Parker) is extremely well-made, and glides across the paper smooth as silk. I've had this pen for 8 years, and it has never failed to write.

EDC just stands for everyday carry. It’s just a term for the stuff you carry on you day to day. I don’t use fountain pens either I like that parker though.

Ah, well, then yes, both my Spyderco and my Parker are everyday carry items. 😎 I always have both of then on me. 🙂

My Parker is my favorite pen ever. It was a Christmas gift from my mother. I highly recommend these pens to anyone who wants a fine writing instrument. 🙂
