Sinn 556 I

Hi everyone,

I am considering this simple and elegant Sinn. The movement is an off-the-shelf Sw200-1. Maybe not a quintessential Sinn but at 1100€, with this brand name and the quality it implies, why not.

Do you have experience with this watch ?

Great watch, only downsides I've seen is the short power reserve and the bracelet can be difficult to fit my wrist just right. On a strap though it's perfect for me!

I got the 556i rs with the red seconds hand.

Nice watches. I think a no date would be even better.

I have the no date version and it’s actually a ghost date. 😭

·

That is pure, simple, understated CLASS. 😎👍

·

I had a 556a, lovely watch. I was on the fence between the "a" and the "I" but the numerals being exactly like those in Sinns cockpit clocks sold me on the former

·

Always liked the "all business" attitude of the 556.

·

If you like the 556i, take a look at the Damasko DS30, DK30/32, and the new DK20/22. The DK series use Damasko's A-26 movement, while the DS30 uses an ETA 2824.

·

Highly desirable movement and beautiful piece pull the trigger #sinn

·

The 556 is an excellent watch! Probably the most legible watch in my collection. You’ll swear there is no crystal in the watch.

And the SW200 in it is a top grade version, so no slouch either. Mine runs about +2.5spd.

Pics when you get it!

purchased the one with arabic numerals in march as my first automatic watch. it‘s in everyday use and I often look at it in amazement regarding the fact that I can‘t get enough of it. no regrets whatsoever.

Before you decide, take a look at Laco and STOWA.

·

No experience but love what Sinn does. They've made a black dial and no numerals their own.

·

I don’t have a Sinn, but my CW C63 Sealander and has the same movement as this Sinn. It runs pretty accurate although I have put it to a timegrapher, I am quite haapy with it.

·

Utilitarian beauty!

·

No experience, but the 556i RS is my grail watch. The design is just timeless 🎯

I have a 556i. No problems whatsoever. The movement is very accurate, runs at 1or2 s/day. Wear mine on either a Sinn leather strap or Sinn canvas which dresses it down very nicely. Sinn straps are good quality and IMO good value for money. I don’t have the bracelet as I think the 556 suits a strap better.

No regrets buying the 556i but if funds allow I’d like a 556ARS. Perhaps if I was buying my first 556 the 556ARS would be my first choice.

Are they really as thin as quoted - 11mm? must be nice and wearable at that thickness.

“Total height in the middle of the clock : 11mm” says the spec sheet. That’s one of the appeals of this watch indeed

·

I have the 556a RS - I recommend either the I or A with the red second hand as it just adds a bit of colour. I’ve owned quite a few more expensive pieces but this is one of the best, legibility is the best I’ve seen.

·

I really like this one but the size puts me off. I like the 836 a bit better that same reason.

·

I like simplicity in design. The 556i has that characteristic. Another plus point is that is that it is a GADA (go anywhere do anything) type of watch. Built quality is really good, like everyone else I was contemplating between i and a. I picked the i because the black is more glossy and never regret it.

I've had the 556i for a few years and love it. I prefer it on a strap. The black glossy dial is mesmerizing and the way the crystal is coated, it seems to disappear. A really nice every day wear for me.

I really like 556 series and always wanted to get one. But I think I'm too late to the party. With the price increases over the years, the 'value' has gone down. Anyone feels the same?

I don’t 😀I bought mine in December for 1250€, it is a wonderful watch, a keeper. No regrets !

I had a Sinn 556i, which I sold when I was consolidating my collection. The only watch sale I regret. Will be getting another one this year 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

Needless to say, amazing watch imo
