Help wanted, needing something light

I’m needing some advice for a friend. He is 67, active and normally wears Rolex Sea dweller however the back of his hand is very sore so looking for a very light/classy/sporty watch. Let’s put budget at 1-15k. Chunky/SS/gold/plastic Casios etc. are out of scope, needs to be on point, ideas?

Also right hand isn’t an option

Well, titanium seems a good start.

The new 36mm Titanium Christopher Wards would wear very light and comfortable.

Tudor Pelagos

I did point him to this one though. Retractable crown in a composite case

That one looks nice too.

Obvious answer Moon Swatch

I love how light my Pelagos 39 is. I’d highly recommend looking at the entire Pelagos line if you want something light but still substantial looking.

The Grand Seiko SBGE 283/285 (black and Mistflake, respectively) are also great lightweight titanium options that are really nice, if he doesn’t want another diver.

Who ever suggested the Colchester literally read my mind. But also the Omega no time to die is a great option, maybe some Grand Seiko Titanium options could scratch the itch as well

It was me. I really like is as well. I wish they would update the dial re the log though 😕

Well it depends on what sport/classy means and how active the friend is. Titanium watches are obvious choice, many great options mentioned in this article:

Another option is some carbon/composite models like Tudor, Doxa or Norqain.

Why not try and old Omega Seamaster - I love the 2264.50 quartz. Just a solid daily beater and not expensive.

Depending on personal taste, but definitely Titanium.

These are carbon fibre with a range of colour options from plain black to multicoloured maybe?.

Try Bvulgari Octo. Love mine. Incredibly light titanium

Great shout, I sent him this one, thinnest chrono and GMT. I tried this on in Disney Springs last year. In pictures these will divide the population however it has to be one of the only watches I have ever tried on that blew me away. It’s seriously comfortable. Just wish the War was better than 30 mtr

A titanium watch, preferably with the crown on the 4. But titanium should be your material of choice

·

Decision made! He is going for the Christopher Ward Elite. Great specs: Titanium and weight just 45grams on rubber. COSC certified, retractable crown and WR to 150mtrs

Good grief... 15k on the table and people are suggesting Christopher bloody Wards.

This is clearly a guy with taste.

The Omega Seamaster 300m titanium on titanium seems an absolute no brainer to me.

He wanted to go high, I suggested low. He clearly has a medical issue that needs seeing to.

Price isn't causing his medical issue, and if he's wearing a Rolex Sea-Dweller, suggestions that he straps on a Christopher Ward is like telling a Porsche 911 driver that it's time to give it up and step into a Hyundai Getz. I trust if he is encouraged to change watches at some stage, his Sea-Dweller remains safe. That's not a cheap watch to leave lying around.

Well, perhaps wait for that diagnosis to come though first, before buying anything? Otherwise you're potentially buying some cheap POS for no reason at all, anyway.

Nah he is desperate to try something different. The CW is a great looking watch and I’m actually interested in it as well so I might buy it off home if he moves it on 😁
