Which is the most underappreciated Rolex model?

While almost everyone even those of us who are not into watches, will certainly know the name Rolex. It is possible that they may even recognize some popular models such as Daytona, Submariner, GMT-MasterII and Date-Just (just to name a few) from their model lineups.

It surprises me that some models are trading below the MSRP. The Sky-dweller ref. 326933-0010 is such a good example. This model is the most complicated Rolex model has ever produced.

It has annual calendar, true-GMT and a date functuon. However, it received very little attention since launched a decade ago.

In this two-tone precious metal iteration, it is even more surprising to me no one is picking it up. It may not be the most appealing aesthetically of all (depends on your taste),

I value highly on this time-piece in it's 2 tone version.

In your opinion, which Rolex models and references besides the above mentioned are the least appreciated ?

This post is as unappreciated as the model suggested 🥲

Hope to gather some opinions from fellow crunchers.

Okay, at least it's not a Yachtmaster II. Does that count? 😉

Sky-dwellers are super nice, but they are expensive, big, thick and heavy.

They are not too hard to get at an AD, especially if you want a gold one and on oysterflex.

I think more hardcore enthusiasts would go for a sky dweller, everyone else would just go for a fluted gold datejust...

Yes you nailed it...YachtmasterII is for the professional sailers, and not many people know how to use the function 😅

It's not appreciated also because of the size I guess?? It's definitely a great looking watch !

Haha it's hard to have unappreciated and Rolex in the same statement. However I would say Cellini which has since been discontinued.

Yeah, the watch is not exactly understated. I mean, my uncle had a sailing school, and I get the idea behind the watch. I also know a few people who would be able to afford both the watch and the yacht to match. But yet again, the watch is just not all that subtle.

Definitely the Air King. 👌

Absolutely! Air King is very nice 😍

It is very legible 3,6,9 just like explorer with additional 5min markers. Super classy 👌

No doubt!

Cellini moonphase 50535 is one great example of the more elegant and sophisticated dress watch from Rolex !

SkyD is only big and thick compared to Rolex’s svelt line up. It’s dimensions are pretty streamlined and thin when compared to basically any modern Omega and other brand’s sport watches.

·

I have to admit, this Rolex does absolutely nothing for me.

Then again, I'm totally shallow when it comes to watches. It has to look good, to hell with the complications 🥳

Each to his own: )

Explorer II in general but more specifically the black dial.

I LOVE the sky dweller and I have no use for a GMT, I love how unique it’s functions operate, super cool.

As far as other models? I think the turn-o-graph. Divers arnt the only things that deserve a countdown bezel, damnit!

Some Sky Dwellers look fantastic, the one you highlight does not (to my eye).

The new blue-ish dial rose gold model is stunning, but I personally wouldn't want a full rose gold watch.

Get me a steel model with the green dial and i'm sold. I love a GMT and the addition of a nicely incorporated annual calendar really appeals. It's only downfall for me is the price, at £13,150 it's just too much.

Hahaha I agree with you, and each to his own!

The one I illustrated is like a DateJust on an asteroid as they say! Neither sporty, nor classy. It's definitely a weird combination at size 42mm 😂

Easier choice is the Sky-Dweller in blue 326934, an absolute stunner! I think for the function and aesthetics, it is totally underrated!

I understand that looks is everything. It's unfortunate that some models of Sky-Dwellers are left in the dust.

Anyway, this is the exact purpose I started with this thread to get some awareness and opinions from fellow crunchers!

Thanks to all who shared your input 😉
