The most talked about subject on watch forums, and one I have discussed a million times. I no longer own any DIRECT homage watches, although the vast majority of watches take some sort of inspiration from something else. That said, clomages are legal, and give many people great pleasure, so I believe we should respect their existence and the people who choose to buy them. Seiko have been making them for years, but may watch enthusiasts prefer to ignore the fact. Ultimately brands such as Rolex love them, as they are free advertising, and have no effect on their sales.
I hate cheese, so I don't eat it, and I don't tell other people not to eat it either. Get my point?
Yes there are good homages out there worth the get. That’s what got me more into collecting. Plus I be safe and less worry about going on vacation with a homage than having the real thing.

The savings of loosing a less expensive watch to theft etc is a plus for sure but theives are not checking to see if the watch is real before attacking people.

True for sure is always wise to think and plan ahead on what you wear.
Homage watches are a great way to try out a watch long term without a big investment. You can only really get a feel for how a watch will be day to day with some wrist time, and ten minutes in a boutique isn’t going to give you that. I found out Panerai isn’t for me for a mere hundred bucks.
I have several Rolex homages just because I refuse to play the AD ‘Rolex Acquisition Game’. I will never apologize for having enough self worth to expect to be treated better as a customer. And, the answer is not to participate in the grey market scalpers game either. There’s too many examples of shady dealings in the scalpers market, and Timepiece Gentleman is just the latest. Anyone that bought a watch off him has to be worried that they have a stolen piece. I’m actually not sure which is worse, the Rolex AD game or the shady scalpers game. Neither seems worth playing, and homages were my solution to skip playing losing games.
This is question is only useful in the watch space if specify whether you mean “blatant, very obvious copy” or “homage”.
Homages (in the not-dumb sense of the word), perfectly fine.
Copies? I don’t mind unless they start going after smaller brands. Interestingly, you can sometimes get to see what watch could look like if certain options were available.

Are we talking about true homages or the "copy and paste" brands like Alixepress sales?

For the purpose of the poll,
"c&p" watchmakers are homage brands.

Ok
I don't mind pulling certain design elements, but when the watch just looks like another with some company's name slapped on it, I don't like it

I agree, but we don't have to wear them, so it doesn't matter

To me an homage comes from an equal. Call them what they are. Knock-Offs.
Nope. I'm not a fan of kit cars either but if that's your jam then more power to you. Enjoy what you love. 👍

A true homage, yes ( my 2015 SM300 & Prospex Willard fit in this category)
For Chinese clomage's, then absolutely NOT!!
