My mechanical dump Apple Watch

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my last watch modding project with you. I know it is not a new idea and I am not the first guy who did it. But this project stuck in my head for so long, that I had to build it. I bought an used and broken Apple Watch (1. Gen, 42mm).

Image

The movement is a (Seiko) NH38 which I ordered with some holders, a small crown und hands from AliX.

Image

After some disassembling, drilling and grinding the movement fittet into the case! :) But actually it didn't :(

With the hands it was to high and second hand touched the crystal. So I needed a spacer which I 3D printed.

Image

The Dial is also a 3D print. I tested two versions but liked the open one more.

Image

After the assembly of the case, movement, crown, dial and hands, I glued the spacer and original crystal on the front. The Back is also changed to a crystal.

I really like the result. What do you think of such projects?

Your fabrication is impressive! I mean really, well done! 🤝

That is great. But if you go into an Apple store and ask for support, please post a recording.

That's a funny idea!

Killer mod. It’s amazing what will and imagination can do to our passion. Keep it up, push the boundaries, watches are all about the individual

Nice my friend 👌I seen the YouTube video and wanted to make one too, good job I wasn't brave enough 👍

The Idea is from a YT-Video, but my build is way more simple. I didn't used the original Crown and Button, I just drilled a hole 🤣

Mike199

That is amazing!! Would you be willing to do another one of these if I paid you?

I rather not, the execution is quite simple and I don't know how long it will last 🤣 The holder for the movement inside are just plastic, which could move eventually.

·

I'm impressed! That's really cool.

·

So you 3D printed your dial. Have you printed any other dials?

Fair enough… would you be willing to print another dial, spacer, etc for me to make my own?

Super cool mod! 🍎⚙️

Fantastic job! I was thinking about the same not long ago, but you did execute this perfectly! 👏

No, only these two version for the Apple watch. They are also without the feet on the back.

·

I love it! Are these available from any online sellers? Wasn’t sure if someone is making them and selling them.
