Speedmaster owners: strap or bracelet?

Also considering this combo next summer. I’m a big fan of tropic straps and don’t see them on speedmasters very often.

I picked up the new 3861 Speedmaster sapphire sandwich in May, and had originally planned on pairing it with the Aaron Bespoke alligator strap that I had been using with my Speedmaster 57. I found the new bracelet so comfortable that I've never even bothered trying it on the strap.

A classic brown leather strap with contrasting white stitching is just sublime ! 
 

But I recently sold my 1861 and bought the new 3861 on the bracelet. I have to admit, I’m loving the bracelet so far. Extremely comfortable to wear. 

I've been lucky to have owned a coupe of Speedmasters over the years and have found them to very versatile. Obviously looks good on the bracelet, however, it also works well with leather, canvas, suede, nato, rally strap, etc.

Like the author I stayed with the oem gator strap on my 1861 for over a year. The older oem bracelet hasn’t even been sized. The oem NATO saw some significant wrist time but is just a bit too fiddly for every day. Over a year ago I ordered the Zealande silicone rubber strap they bill for the Seamaster Professional in black but they were backordered or something and delivery was only rather recently. As consolation the company offered a handwritten note and the same strap in green as seen in my background pic. I love the suppleness, the brushed buckle without a logo, and most of all, the way the end of the strap is rounded to seamlessly fit to the edge of the case without a gap. Green happens to be a great color for me so the original black that I ordered from Zealande is still in the box. 

I know it's not the Speedmaster Professional, but I just swapped my Speedmaster Racing from the bracelet back to this cognac alligator strap from Aaron Bespoke of Montreal. It totally changes the look of the watch. 

The greatest thing about the speedy is that it’s 50/50 ! 🙃

I haven’t yet taken my 3861 off the bracelet - it is so comfortable, and I love how it tapers! I’ve got a couple straps I might try… one day.

I agree that speedy is a strap monster, it goes well with all kinds of leather, sailcloth, rubber, nato... Considering i am not too much of the bracelet guy, i perfer rubber

I think the fact that they sell so many different models on a mixture of straps and bracelets shows just how versatile it is and that it can look great either way. Some models definitely look better on a strap though, I can’t imagine my Apollo 8 on a bracelet and if it had been on one I don’t think I would have bought it

Yes. Both. All. Always depends on the occasion of wear for me! I’m constantly changing out my Speedy accessories! I wear my ZuluDiver olive drab green with rivets NATO most days since that matches my uniform, plus it’s so comfortable.
