Cartier Tank Must SolarBeat sadly not for me

Never tried on a Cartier. Today I went to see and try on the highly anticipated SolarBeat - had it shipped to my local store. Fully intended to pull the trigger.

Sadly 😞 it just didn’t feel right for me. It didn’t excite me. I found it too small. The iconic crown, the Roman numerals, the hands - all too small for me. It felt incredibly light - almost too light, almost a bit plastic dare I say it 😬

I love Cartier but sadly this isn’t for me. I tried the XL automatic range too but that didn’t feel right either.

Shame, it looks good but gotta go with your heart 👍🏻

To me it's just a boring looking rectangle. I'm not a fan of Roman numerals, always think they should only be on clocks and not watches. Case is too slabby as well.

Oddly, I'd say it's too big. 😂 But, I'm biased.

I think it’s a narrow range of wrists and people who can pull that off. Good call trying it on and kudos for knowing when to say no.

I buy from some very trusted agents at a few ads around the city who are almost friends, are honest with me because they know I am not a guy who will be a casual customer( of course nothing wrong with being a one time shopper), the comments about the Cartier Solar have been mostly negative, including mention of price points, introducing the brand to younger new persons looking to check out the brand. The Tank XL with a MC movement sells well to both men and women, some women buying the large watches with metal bracelets to make a fashion statement. Perhaps you can try one of the Santos models? I remain a huge fan of the brand own several iterations of the Santos watch.

@TOwguy the Santos was what I was thinking. I think that’s my only entry into Cartier if it happens.

·

Isn’t that weird how feelings change the minute you see a piece in the metal? I had the opposite thing happen to me with a speedmaster recently.

You will not regret any Santos but I love the model, only watch that works with Roman numerals imo.

The Tank is classic, but it is dressy and if one does not want to have that look, I totally get it.

I had a similar experience when I went to try on a Must….didn’t work for me at all. I ended up preferring the Francais, just felt better and from my perspective looked better. I ended up not buying either, but the Francais is still in my “pretty soon” list.

Maybe you’re more a Santos or Santos-Dumont guy!?

Too bad,it’s a nice looking watch
