NWA: Filipino Field Watch

While purchasing yet another new watch makes me feel guilty that this is the second one this month, technically I pre-ordered this last year. Therefore, I still have not bought anything for 2024! 🤪

Philosophical thoughts aside, this is the new field watch from De Guzman & Co., a Filipino microbrand that I recently learned a lot about during the first Manila WC meetup!

Pre-ordered for ₱11888 or around $200, this 38mm field watch is a lot of value for money. Powered by the venerable NH35A movement, De Guzman & Co. implemented an additional complication: the InfinityDate display, a first amongst other Philippine microbrands.

The sandblast-finished watch features a screw-down crown, which helps it achieve its 100m water resistance. After googling, I also found out that this watch is ISO 22810 compliant, which is really cool!

What really amazed me about this field watch is its specific shade of green. Coined by the brand as "Forest Green", the fumé dial is complimented by orange highlights present on both the lume markers and and the date indicators of the watch. The colors are further highlighted, in my opinion, when placed on a different colored strap.

Overall, a lot of my appeal for this watch has to do with it being a local brand, as well as my want of having a <40mm watch. Them providing a green-colored option really helped to rope me in even more.

I really think this watch is a big step in the right direction for De Guzman & Co. moving forward, and I hope to see more innovations from them, because right now, I do not see any other brand coming close at this price point.

This post now looks like it came off as a commercial, but I am just passionate 😅

I will end this post with a lume shot ✨

This looks great. I really like how they handle the date display. Thanks for posting this, my mum’s from the Phillipines and I sometimes think I should get a watch from there.

I have travelled to your beautiful and wonderful country twice and absolutely LOVE it! Can't wait to return!

Learned about De Guzman watches about a year ago ... their Divers with Babayan script indices are beautiful too 👍

Last May while at the Mall of Asia in Manila, I saw another beautiful Pinoy micro-brand while in a Kultura store ... Ibarra ... more on the "dressy" side, but still awesome looking! Your former President has been known to wear one 😎

Salamat for posting ... nice to see De Guzman branching out into Field Watches!

Ingat ka 😀
