On the bench this week a cosmetically tidy 6309-7040 from 1978 in need of some TLC.
This one came in wanting to run but would stop and start intermittently, the date change not working, has obviously had some moisture ingress at some time as the minute track ring was faded and some parts showing signs of rust damage.
This one needed a bit of work and parts to get it back to full health. Date driving wheels stripped, 3rd wheel gear teeth damaged, centre wheel pinion rust damaged. Day and date wheels damaged and scratched from a previous poor repair.
Main plate had a broken calendar retaining screws sheared off in the plate, replaced the plate and jewelled the arbor. New mainspring fitted and new gaskets.
Now back to full health.
