The Ming GMT Gilt

I’ve been wanting to get a Ming watch ever since I’ve heard about them. I love the asthetics & how unique they look. This model got my attention & I was able to buy it at a pretty great price. I got the GMT hand set at Japans time. I’ll be traveling there later this year & I’m excited for it.

I’m truly enjoying it & it’s my coolest looking watch atm 😄.

Yes it does! And I love that 😆

·

Congratulation. Nice...

GMT is my favorite of these, those spring bars must have gone through a pipe bender to get that curvature.

Congrats as it sounds like you have a cool watch, a cool trip to take it on planned and overall good vibes.

Yes sir. Thank you

Congrats! Waiting on my ming world timer! Love their lume, especially the one with the crazy hexagonal pattern on the dial lume.

·

Love Ming’s design language. Not easy to stand out in watch country (and look good doing it) and Ming does a wonderful job of it. Congrats with this indeed very cool looking watch!

Thanks. Thats awesome. That’s my favorite Ming Watch. Their world timer is amazing in every way. A little pricey but totally worth it. Maybe one day 😅

Dat lume😍

·

The loom shot gives me “I fight for the user!” vibes. Beautiful watch but the loom shot is awesome! 😎

·

I would stay up all night to look at the lume. 😱

Yeah, pricey..... Kinda freak myself out when I got it. Let's see how it looks in person.

In terms of build quality; how does it compare to luxury watches from Richemont or Swatch? Where would it reside on either pyramid?

I am asking that question because I like the designs of the Ming.

I have a few watches with SW200 and SW300 movements; and ming (some Christopher Ward watches, and Sinn as well) seems priced beyond what a watch with that brand of movement should cost. The Ming's I am seeing are in the after market used and at IMHO they are highly priced to value around $3,500+.

Are you paying for the dial and/or case in place of the movement?

My thinking is; For the price of a Ming you can get a Grand Seiko Quartz with a great movement, great case design, ok bracelet design, and perhaps a very good dial. You might also be able to buy a Omega at a ming price point with a great movement and a great dial.

The build quality is excellent imo. I have a Rolex, Omega, Sinn, several other micro brands & others. My Grand Seiko SBGA415 was the best in quality even if it wasn’t the most expensive. I got the GS under retail pre owned. GS has some of the best finish of any watch brand though it unfortunately doesn’t hold its value but I still think it’s well worth its asking price. Taste is subjective. Ming isn’t trying to do anything new with their watches. I got this well under retail price in like new condition. The dial & customization they did on the SW movement is pretty neat. I’m happy with the purchase

Agree the GS is high finishing, great movement, great dial, but tends to have low value retention. Buying after-market is the way to go in many cases.

Laine (which is not a mainstream brand) has been on my radar as well as the Ming.

Laine Its not the same price-point but it uses Vaucher.

A Ming is a grail of mine. I was FLOORED when I found out you can get them second hand for less than $2500.

Beautiful watch! And that lume shot is 🔥! I just love the Ming design language. We'll done and enjoy!
