Sometimes I feel like a bund, sometimes I don't... Spoiler, I do this time

Finding more ways to enjoy my Longines Weems Pilot Watch reference L2.606.4, a very faithful reissue of one of their many military pilot watches during WW2 that were very instrumental tools for both RAF and US pilots. Being an authentic 33mm case size with very thin profile of approximately 8.5mm in thickness (or rather thinness), this could certainly use some strap options that scale up the watch just enough on wrist to make it feel just a bit fuller. And, to do this, a leather bund strap seem like a great way to do so.

I don't usually wear bund straps. They are generally a bit thick, fussy, and a little too much bulk going on.

However, I took some visual design cue notes from a limited edition Oris Big Crown 1917 and how it wears on its included bund strap, I sought to find a bund strap with these 2 criteria:

1) Nice thin leather to reduce the bulk of the inherent layering of bund straps

2) A leather panel with minimum width to keep it tight and trim around the watch case near the 9 and 3 o'clock positions. If the watch head overhands slightly, that actually may work a bit better in certain cases. Depends on the particular watch.

I found this bund strap from an Amazon seller in Poland. It wasn't too expensive and sized to fit a watch with 16mm lug width.

I think this bund strap looks pretty sharp with this Weems and I like the color I chose for it which is called "olive brown". Quality is pretty decent for the price at about $17!? It's pretty soft and supple. I think perfectly fine if the watch head isn't too big nor heavy which this Longines is neither.

Bund strap is not my taste but nice watch 💪

The Longines is from WW2. Glycine is from the 50's. I think Longines first

·

That works better than I had imagined. Well done.

·

Longines -introduced the first rotating bezel on a wrist watch circa 1932.

·

I'm a big fan of this watch - not only is it über pretty, it's (as you said) 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 historically significant. Looks fantastic on the bund. ☻

Right on. And, thanks!

Originally, yes. But, this is a limited edition in Japan from around early-mid 90s and a faithful Replica of the ones from that era. Besides Longines, Omega, Movado, Zenith and JLC were other brands that made similar watches back then. Like the dirty dozen watches of that same era, they all had slight variations throughout their years of service and production.

Cool!

Longines is killing it! Those thermally blued hands are gorgeous and in it really works on that bund strap. Are they fixed lugs?
