Hong Kong MoonSwatch Tour Experience?!?!?

To begin with, I love the Omega Speedmaster and when the MoonSwatch was announced, I wanted it so bad. However, its unavailability turns a lot of people off and I am one of them.

A few weeks ago, while looking for lunch I came across the MoonSwatch summer tour in Hong Kong. I thought the tour was only meant for the EU and I was surprised to see it here. It reignited my enthusiasm and I was eagerly waited in line only to see that theres not enough watches for everyone and even myself.

Once again I was disappointed, but to be honest I think its cool for them to actually include HK in their program, more availability in Asia is a good thing for sure thumbs 👍

What do you think of the MoonSwatch?

MoonSwatch as a concept is pretty cool. Nothing wrong with 2 sister companies to collaborate and produce a “new” product and it push sales.

However, execution wise is really a mess. Materials used isn’t that durable (maybe it’s QC?). Availability is also messed up. Scalpers are not helping either. They took away the chance when we enthusiasts really wanted a piece of the collab.

Yeah, for someone who still cant afford the moonwatch, the moonswatch scratches the itch. However, it does have a lot of problem with bioceramic (leaking  etc.), availability that did not help at all

It does scratch the itch for those who want a speedmaster but don’t or can’t fork out that much cash.

Bioceramic on the surface does sound like a breakthrough but this material is already being used in the medical field. New materials used in watches are always a welcome for me, if they are durable.

If we talk about ceramic alone, it does break when you drop it or hit it hard enough. Maybe the use of plastic makes it slightly stronger? But I saw the watch broken at the button area.

Bottomline, I do like the watch but if it breaks apart after 6 months of use, then no thank you. Lol

its pretty cool concept an omega for everyone. however im not a fan of the swatch built quality. also flipper sell moonswatch at my country for around 500$, thats no fun lol

Hi there HK fellow Cruncher! Do you know whether this exhibition has ended? If not I’ll probably drop by and have a look!

I really like how everyone is gathered around that adorable swatch car with the Rolex store(?)seemingly looking down it's nose at the whole scene. In theory, I like the moonswatch, but it seems to expensive for what it is even at the regular mrsp, and the hype! For a brief second I thought, ah neat I'll try to get one when they go on sale for 80 bucks, ha ha ha. I'll just save my pennies and get myself a sick chronograph from somewhere else.

This is the exact reason why I started to make my own watches. Build quality and materials quality has been a letdown for me with most of these watches, even when bought at high-end retailers.

How many scalpers do you guys think there are amongst those onlookers? 🤣

The watch itself is A fun toy of a watch. It is so lightweight its silly. The strap is terrible so you’ll want a new strap, a cheap NATO does great. It’s a bit fragile of a watch too it seems so you’ll want to be careful with it. It’s not an everyday watch. You can get some very nice watches for the $280 I’d spend on one of these. That being said there are watches I buy to wear rarely and more just keep in the collection and there are watches I buy to wear all the time. This is the former more than the latter. I guess just know what you’re getting when you get one. All that being said, I recommend them if you like the look.

Love the swiss licence plate on the car haha

Man, thats so unfortunate that the watch made for the people is taken away from the people to the flippers :( hopefully swatch can fix this soon

Hey man! Unfortunately the exhibition only takes one day, and they will not tell me where they go next. I just got really fortunate to see this to be honest

Yeah, the build quality is not the best, and they are profiting from the omega brand. Even though it does not come anywhere close to the real speedy, it really could scratch the itch for me! Hopefully it becomes more available

There's no way I'm going to a swatch store without buying ANY watch! I've yet to get a swatch for my collection.

I like the Moonswatch, but I don't completely understand the hysteria created by this release.

Cheap junky throw away watches - but great media hype for Omega and a way to attract new customers.

And like you said - nice they’re doing a proper bit of world touring to keep interest at near fever pitch this long

Cute car!  Guess it’s not too hard shipping that tiny thing all over the place
