So, I got some watch parts in last night, this is what happened...
I bought an Explorer style oyster case from Namoki Mods...
... and this textured "Seiko" dial from Ali Express.
I also bought some hands that I thought would look great on this dial...
The minute hand was too long and just did not work. And with a little help from an WC member, I decided to swap them with these Seiko SRPE hands... and voila!
I think it looks amazing! Everything just works.
It's a well finished 36mm case and fits perfectly on my 6.5 inch wrist.
The textured dial really is cool. It's not GS cool, but really pops.
The indices have beveled edges that separates itself from the normal Sub dials out there, and the diamond shape at the 12 is totally something Seiko would do.
The case is polished and brushed with crisp transitions.
All and all, I think this is my favorite mod so far. I took my time, did my research and bought parts from legit sources. I spent some money on this build, but I think it was well worth it.
I spent $140 on the case/bracelet, $40 on the dial, and a movement I swapped from an old San Martin(NH35). The hands were from a Seiko build that didn't work out. All said and done it cost around $300. But I think the result is a beautiful GADA watch I'm gonna end up wearing out.
What do you guys think?
Would you spend $300 on this?

Thank you friend.
Nice work, has real presence 👌
Well done, looks really nice. Thanks for telling us about your journey with this one.
Nice job! Here's my recent(ish) mod I did with my grey dialed SRPE.
Mod and the vanilla version
Fair. The on-wrist experience is where you see/feel the difference. This case was made for my wrist. The good thing about modding is, I don't have to hope a brand makes what I want, I make it myself. But, fair point.

I used the same dial! Nice jubilee sir.

I used a brushed steel chapter ring to make I wear a bit smaller but it looks great with the provided salmon ring too!

I’m with you on this. It seems pointless to me to walk in to an AD and buy a watch like mentioned above when I know I can make one cooler and more unique myself. It makes it feel more like a hobby and less like just purchasing more stuff.
Nice build. I like that case a lot.
What if…. That seiko had a cousin?
Love the Mod! If you’re like me it makes my watch even more versitile!

I see that now. Good move! It does bring that case in a bit. Very cool.

It’s the original orient case the watch is the orient mako 2! I just swapped the bezel and of course upgraded the bracelet.
Very nice work. Just enough difference in details to catch the eye without anything being over the top. Well done! 👍🏻
"What if Seiko had an affair with Tudor?"
Breitling to Tudor: " You're cheating on me?"
Hell yeah I would! Nice work! 👏👏👏
