Zenith Defy A3648 Revival

So I was just reading about the Zenith Defy A3648 Revival.

37mm case diameter but almost 16mm thick... Those are some interesting proportions ๐Ÿค”

Any hard core Zenith nerds know the reason for this odd case size?

This is such a cool watch. 37 is a perfect size imo. 16mm height is weird, but I'd guess it won't wear as thick because of all the steps in the case/bezel design. Still a bit off-putting though.

ยท

The 37mm will wear larger due to lug to lug. My Liberty Revival does anyhow (47). It's only 12.5mm thick but definitely not 600mm WR like this one. I bet the crystal sits pretty high on this and is a good bit of that thickness.

ยท

Iโ€™m curious how thick that crystal is. If itโ€™s 13mm thick but 2.5mm crystal than itโ€™s not nearly as crazy.

ยท

I saw it on the wrist. And it didn't look that bad. I gotta admit I'm intrigued.

On the other hand, you can snag this NOS original on Chrono24:

Very cool watch. One of the stand out watches in W&W. Really keen to try the watch on my skinny wrists.

$18k. Who ever had this is trying to sell while some hype is spun around the new reissue. At this price it may be for sale for a while. I just picked this up new old stock with fresh service from zenith for $3100

37mm for historic reasons. The thickness is due to the water resistance.

ยท

15.5 mm thick. Quite thick as it is 600 m WR. Tested to 750 m. The case will wear thinner due to the design and for me it's one of the hottest releases of last week.

ยท

Based on my own experience with Zenith this watch will wear and appear thick and small. Not entirely confident this robust diver from a good brand is going to be a hit, imo.

ยท

No dought from the crystal the case probably sits flat.
