It is quite a unique, although antiquated, watch tech imo. The rotor generates an electrical charge to charge a battery instead of winding a mainspring.

The Seiko kinetic divers are a great range, still going strong even though Seiko have, seemingly, abandoned the movement. Quartz precision with a 6 month reserve.
