R U in 1 of my 4 Stages?

Stage 1 : Just started getting into watches and I want some more. Stage 2: a lot of impulse buying without very much knowledge or experience to get watches that I will want to keep long term. Stage 3: This is where I currently am: Hours a day, not admitting how many ๐Ÿ˜‚, spent devoted pretty much to all things watch related. Purchases are thought out and intentional. I have a threshold dollar amount for my total collection that I am currently pretty close to. I have chosen so far to keep my collection very arge and experience many brands and styles. Stage 4: (I am just transitioning to this now) Still spending hours a day on watch related activities. Starting to slowly reduce quantity of collection to allow for more wrist time on the favorites I tend to or want to wear more. Higher value placed on watches that are GADA class. Also experimenting with modding. Where are you at? Let's hear about your experience and maybe even why.๐Ÿป

Stage 5. Content with my collection. Willing to add select models when they come around and make sense to bring in to the collection.

I plan on getting to this stage eventually. It may end up being like Stage 8 for me though. Many of our watch journeys have similar paths but it just takes some of us more roads or time to get there. ๐Ÿป

Iโ€™m with you: 3 transitioning to 4.

I am mindful of the size of my collection and have actively and intentionally slowed my purchases. I can now appreciate cool watches without having to own them.

Itโ€™s a one watch per year marathon for me. $10K is my max spend, but only if I can afford that in a given year.

I think a lot of watch collectors hope to get to a similar point. โญโญโญโญโญ

Just moved from 2 to 3!

Caught the casio bug, bought a bunch of references and doubled up on some. Didn't wear some as much as I thought, sold some and now If I think about getting one, I'll watch about 50 reviews and spent ages researching before buying. I still have the feeling of trying to seek instance gratification by finding something to buy but I am getting better at suppressing with logic.

I am like you in stage 3 but thinking moving to 4 and looking at modding and slimming down the collection

I feel called out sirโ€ฆ but Stage 3 lol many hours a day spent watching YouTubr videos about watches, scrolling through websites of watches finding ones I like. Trying not to make any more accidental purchases. I have one more watch coming in today and it will be my last for a few weeks (If I can keep this level of restraint lol)

I am a both a bit surprised and comforted that so many are experiencing the same or similar stages as myself. Good luck with keeping a level of constraint. ๐Ÿป
