On the hunt for a compressior

Selling most of my collection. I want to get a Compressor diver. Traska has my eye, but I read the hands are brass instead of steel. This makes me wary about the hands not matching the case and the hands tarnishing. Just a strange choice for a non guilt watch.

Anyways looking for some good suggestions. Under 41mm or under. Already aware of the Dan Henry, Phobios, San Martin.

Price caps around $600. Maybe $700 for a really good one.

Circula Supersport.

+1 for Circula

Wouldnt worry too much about the hands, they are sealed up tight. Even with 5-10 yr maintenance needing to open the case, that's not enough O2. And if it has started tarnishing after 20 yrs, that just means it's been well used.

·

If you can go up a mm or two in size, I wholeheartedly recommend the Elliot Brown Beachmaster, granted at your price point it'd be the quartz variant, but that makes it all the more grab and go.

Traska is a great choice and should be able to handle challenging environments given the hardening treatment that's applied to the watch. Please be aware it's not a true compressor watch if that is what you're looking for.

Farer Aqua compressor and CW Super compressor?

They’re both a little above your budget, but check the used market? The CW is a genuine super compressor, the farer I believe is a modern take on the compressor system.

Both are super cool watches.

Buy lightly used, that'll open up more choice.

I agree with @Tourbillon1916 , they're the one's I'd be aiming for.

Too expensive for my budget.

The Phoibos Eagle Ray was a very pleasant surprise for me.

It’s good but Ti is a no go on watches. Soft and scratch’s when the wind blows. I tried Boldr and the I put on their hardened Ti on morning and dings and scratches out of nowhere.

I read this about titanium often but that's not my experience at all?

I have a Tudor Pelagos, a Citizen Ray Mears and a Phoibos apollo v3 all of which I wear as beaters and in the ocean, running and in the pool. The only marks on any of them is very minor scratches on the clasp of the Tudor.

Titanium in my experience is very tough. Just picked up a Circula Divesport Titanium which has apparently toughened titanium equivalent to that from Sinn.

In that price range I think the best you can do is indeed the Traska. I wish they had some sort of quick-on-the-fly adjust on the bracelet, that would make them absolutely perfect for the price.

·

This is an only compressor style watch I owned. It’s reliable and fairly cheap around 350$ when I bought it last year.
