Watch Tracking Tool

I've decided it's time to build something better than Airtable / Excel to track my watch collection.  If anyone is interested in working on this with me, please let me know.

Would love everyone's thoughts and ideas...

I like the idea, though I did get "Site Not Secure" warning that may need to be addressed. I know Chrono24 and WatchBase offer some tracking functionality including pricing trends, but I am always skeptical about uploading my collection to an unknown party's site, though an app that has no outgoing functionality seems like a good idea.

Personally, I use a google sheets doc to track everything, which I will print and store with other docs. I include the following:

  • Watch brand and model including model number
  • Serial information
  • Acquisition date and basis
  • Movement
  • Country of origin
  • Included accessories/straps
  • Size
  • Misc notes (no box, bought for a special occasion, etc)

Thank you for this...  Im launching the landing page to gauge interest in the concept, ill check with launchrock about the security.

appreciate you sharing what you track.  The other piece I track is info around the appraisals and insurance.

I was going to mention that, I believe the Hodinkee (Chubb) insurance does all of what I track and more, but I am sure like many, some I will let ride on my homeowners, others I may insure separately.

For me, I want to make it easy for estate purposes to simply use a trust or will to lay out what should happen with the collection and use my sheets document as a supporting doc. Hopefully, that is a good 40 years away. For now, it sits as a reminder of how much I have spent over the years as it also tracks watches I have given away or sitting in a box because it is now worthless and cannot bring myself to simply toss in the trash (looking at you broken Seagull 1963).

I currently use Airtable to track watch collection/wishlist/exploration. May I ask what problems you are facing or goals you have that can’t be met with Airtable?

I used to make some beta testing so if I can help, just let me know. I've subscribed to get updates.

I use an app called WatcheePro that works quite well. It doesn’t track trends like Chrono24 but it does give you an easier way to organise your collection digitally.

I‘m tracking mine via the Chrono24 App. This also shows the estimated price. But it’s missing individual features like the accuracy of my specific watch for example. I’m definitely interested in your idea!

And certain watches aren’t set up on Chrono24 which makes it a faff to track them

Mine have all been so far, so that’s not a problem for me personally, but as soon as the watch is not mainstream it gets tricky, that’s true!
