My first purchase of 2024
Since I started this hobby, I was not a fan of Cartier when it comes to watches. Considered it as a fashion brand. It took me so long to discover that they do offer exceptional horology, great history, timeless designs and excellent value relatively.
As soon as I looked into their offerings, this Santos Dumont xl caught my eyes. Case design, case thickness of 7.5mm, Piaget movement thickness of 2.1mm, 3Hz manual wind, two blue hands that hits the correct indices, bright dial, and the list goes on.
Now I have to replace this lovely strap with a longer one, in order to fit my 8 inches wrist.

Agreed with that first sentence massively. Glossed over them whilst I thought steel divers were my thing. Couple years in and my wrist is much happier here 😄

It sure you can do better in the class. It’s an amazingly versatile watch and is a pleasure to wear. I too was a tad hesitant on Cartier prior to this watch. It def changed my mind. Congrats and enjoy your new Cartier.
Cartier straps are really nice, but take a while in my experience to have made and receive. DeLugs seem to be solid and then there is another brand with the quick change metal end piece that you def need in the strap.

Excellent choice. I think its a sweet spot between formality and casual. While Santos du Cartier leans more toward sportiness. For your strap, I'd recommend getting a smaller size for perfect fit and look.
