Calling all Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic owners…

And to everyone who doesn’t own one, hello.

I love the Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic. Always wanted one, and I’m seriously about to pull the trigger on the Automatic Titanium Blue 38mm.

Not having AR coating is a concern for me. I have seen a few YT videos saying their only concern about this watch is not having this tiny little feature.

My question to current owners: is this a big issue for you?

For people that don’t own one: is it a dealbreaker for you?

I'd rather have it but certainly not a dealbreaker.

AR coating was not a deal breaker to me till I saw the Hamilton Khaki Murph. Looking at the dial was like looking in a mirror. I returned it right away. On the other hand, the Khaki Expedition has amazing AR coating.

I honestly don't know why the don't just add some 🤷

As a possible alternative that is very similar and has AR, you can get a Longines Spirit 37mm on eBay for 1500 or less - often new. In particular, dealers out of Japan are great.

A bit more, but a big step up too.

I've had a KFM 42mm and a Murph. The AR isn't great, but it didn't stop me thoroughly enjoying both.

That’s what I was thinking, but I’m being hesitant.

I have the 42mm Titanium PVD

It would be nice to have but isn’t a dealbreaker.

I had a watch that I felt I was looking at a mirror too. That’s why I am concerned with the no AR coating.

I think this would be my alternative. I like that strap tho.

Yeah the mirror effect was super annoying. It made me more conscious of making sure a watch has good AR coating moving forward. The strap is a Tropic strap! 😁

It's still a good watch but you will notice it and it will bother you a tad. As others have said, it's not a deal-breaker for me.

·

I own one i bought cheap from ebay new old stock. In my opinion AR coating only really matters when taking pics of the watch. In day to day scenarios i can tell the time just fine without it. 😄

I didn’t find it to be a dealbreaker, the watch is plenty visible. It would be nice to have, but that didn’t stop me, I love this watch.

I’m being too naive on wanting a Hamilton on my collection so bad.

Nice watch tho. Bit high budget for me as of right now, but will look into it.

·

Not a deal breaker as I chose a white dial and do not have any real issues. I can see it occasionally.

For me it doesn’t bother me except when I focus on not having AR coating;)

·

No issue for me at all. And the blue titanium 38mm is amazing and wears super comfortable on my wrist.

Definitely on my wishlist! I hadn't given it any thought about the AR coating. Good point. Regardless, I want a Hamilton!

I had the Khaki Field Mechanical and Auto. I sold them both for different reasons. The lack of AR was most noticeable to me on the auto. Under bright office lights or under a canopy of trees it was often hard to see the time quickly. It’s a great watch. It that feature annoyed me. Since I got my Sinn 556a with AR on both sides I could never go back. I wish watch companies would either use AR or just offer acrylic, which is non reflective. But I’m sure I’m the minority here.

If You have the money for it, go get one. Worst case, you can sell it at a minimal loss but at least you know for sure if it is/was a problem or not.

·

Most Hamilton's have this issue. Something you have to live with. I think the khaki field mechanical you can get away with

·

Not a deal breaker at all.

I agree, and they need to seriously up their lume, it is horrible across the Hamilton watch group.
