First Seiko Mod Completed - New Bezel Insert.

I’ve never modded a Seiko before, and it seemed fitting to do so given how much I wear the watch. I grabbed a new aluminum insert that was a little more legible than the original, with a lume pip for timing after dark. Aligning it properly was by far the most difficult part of the process, which wasn’t too difficult on its own.

Oddly, the lume on the bezel looks like a different color in the photo, but in-person the lumes match quite well. I was also worried that the fresh aluminum bezel might contrast the bead-blasted case, but I think they go well together.

I saved the original bezel, but it doesn’t have lume and it is hard to read in the dark, so I doubt I will use it again.

The original:

I have a fairly cheaply priced bracelet coming from AliExpress in about 2 weeks—and with that, I will most likely be happy with the overall look and feel of this one. It has all certainly scratched the New Watch Itch pretty well.

Damn this is awesome. Good job. Which model is this?

Replaced mine out of necessity (I shoved it in my pocket and scratched the insert). Went with a very non-stock look that I can't make up my mind about... I love the ceramic material but it has a really odd colour that depends on the light. Wish it was just a little less reddish!

Looks mesmerizing, I'm about to do a new modding again, just trying to save up for it. This is my modding from approx two weeks ago

Looks definitely better with this new insert! And you kept an SKX style bezel instead of the cookie cutter Sub style, excellent choice! 10/10

Thank you, I’m not too keen on all the numbers, but if you search for a Seiko 5 cement, you will find this model. It is still on Seiko’s website too.
