Help with identifying this Omega.

Hello! I am reaching out for some help from the WatchCrunch community. I am not that familiar with Omega timepieces and I need help identifying the make, model, and year of this watch. There are no markings or serial numbers present on the watch.

The owner states it was his father’s and his father acquired it after the shuttle launch in 1969. It is non-functional and the pictures and the tidbit of info just mentioned is all I have on this piece. Thanks for any help!

I don't recognize it, it doesn't look as old as the seller is claiming though. I'd see if they can remove the caseback and give you a look at the movement, that could give you more clues. Best of luck mate!

shuttle didn't launch in 1969 (still Apollo missions) - the first shuttle launched in April 1981.

Concur with the others -- this is a fake.

Originally was going to say franken but it's probably a fake.  I believe the following to be true ( but I have had a couple drinks so if anyone knows better please correct me).

  1. None of the Speedmaster professionals had a dial layout like that. All the speedy pros had a dial layout with subdials at 3-6-9 instead of 6-9-12 due to the layout of the old lemania movement.
  2. There was a speedmaster that did have this layout, the Speedmaster automatic Japan only editions which used a Valjoux 7750 base.  However in those the small seconds subdials was at the 9 not the 12.  The dials on those, in any case, said speedmaster automatic not speedmaster professional.
  3.  I'm pretty sure all the casebacks of the moonwatches had a hippocampus on the back in the center, not an omega symbol. (Edit: the original Moonwatch did have an omega symbol in the back but did not look like the picture)..

This was on the wrist of a patient of mine and we started talking watches. I inquired about his watch. He knew very little about it. I told him I’d look into it. Coming up empty handed with searches of my own, I thought this looked like a knowledgeable watch community to get some more information from.

Thank you for this information @Edge168n !! For the proposed age of this watch, the hands, lume plots, and dial looked way to new especially with how terrible the movement was running (no longer running, winding, changing date, etc. like the movement was that age and completely mistreated its whole life and the rest of the watch was not). It turns out it’s likely the case of a very poorly manufactured fake movement. Thanks again!

Yes, this is the Speedmaster annual calendar with day, month, date functions and no small seconds.  3520 is the reference I know but there are certainly more nearly identical versions knowing Omega.  You'll note the text on the dial says Speedmaster Automatic as opposed to the Speedmaster Professional on the Moonwatch.
