Be Consistent in Your Standards
On the left we have the iconic image of DC in his last outing as Bond wearing the gorgeous Seamaster NTTD model - Yes, Diver with a Suit - On the right, its me wearing the same watch and let me tell you the reason of this post.
I posted my pics yesterday & to my surprise it was like I put my hand in honet's nest - So many people said "A dive watch with a suit??? Cmon, you cant do it unless you are Bond or DC" - And that last part of that sily statemdnt is what I want to debate - At least have your standards consistent, thats what I will tell those guys - Either dont let even Bond get away with it and stick to your puritan views (I will at least respect you for your stubbornness if not for sartorial sense development over the last few decades) OR accept that anyone of us CAN wear a diver watch WITH a suit as long as it looks good and we can carry it off with confidence and ease - Having this senseless double standard in mind that for Bond its ok (why?? Some would say because he is a spy- so what? If a spy has a tailored suit and a tux he can have a dress watch too right? but hey we love Bond because of his unconventional pairings which he has made acceptable long ago even in real world) and for all of us its a "definite no-no" as some of you said yday, its pretty annoying - Dont you get one thing? People who can wear suit and a diver watch together (and still carry it off) dont really give a damn about THE RULES - nor they should. I agree if I was wearing a 50mm giant sledgehammer of a watch and it was just looking bad because of its ugliness, then I can totally get it - but for different reasons - Not a blanket statement like "suit with diver watch is a no no"
Love and peace - Be respectful in your comments - I would love to hear your views but avoid snarky comments like a diva bcoz then I would give it back to you in comments and you would say im areogant !! I am not but at the same time I dont need to be a "nice guy" if someone is being a jackass!!

I don't wear suits but if I did you bet your ass a diver would be under the cuff a lot. People that claim you can't wear divers with a suit probably also wear Capri pants and dress shoes with no socks. So I wouldn't take their advice to serious!

I feel that people should wear what they want. The NTTD looks fantastic with most things, and whilst I don't think you need to be a certain type of person to carry it off confidence in your styling choices helps massively. I'd go so far as to say if you're not confident in your look then that look probably isn't 'you' naturally, so why wear it? Obviously situations that enforce a dress code don't allow that. Like you I've always been happy in more formal attire, but I'm not too strict on the type of watch I'd choose to pair with it. It's nice not to conform sometimes, but also to embrace the tradition at others.

Agreed, and your outfit was great. A little flexibility from convention can make a look, and everyone loves a rebel😂 Not that I'd consider a diver with a suit to be that much of a stretch anyway, but that's just me.
