First bronze piece!

Ever since unexpectedly trying on an IWC Spitfire in bronze a few months back (fantastic looking watch btw), I have been very interested in adding a bronze piece to the collection. Jomashop has a great price on this watch- over a third off of retail- the only problem being that it was never in stock. Happened to check it one day and it was available in “limited quantities”. I said to myself “Yeah, right… limited quantity…. I’m not falling for that…” as I reached for my credit card. Locked in the purchase and lo and behold, the next day, the listing said “sold out” once again. Should scarcity and price justify my impulse purchase? No! Do I feel relieved and excited that I was able to snag it by being decisive? Hell yeah!

Disclaimer: I do not in any way encourage impulse purchases- or watch purchases at all for that matter 😂. That said, if you know what you want and what you would like to pay for it, it’s gratifying to pull the trigger and hit the target once in awhile.

So what do I like about this watch? Well, after a flurry of purchases in my first year as an enthusiast and building a base collection I’m happy with, I am getting to the point where I am being more deliberate with my purchases (this was my first buy of 2024… how many of you degenerates can beat that?). In addition to being more patient, I am looking to add things to the collection that will allow me to experience things I’ve yet to experience. My last purchase was a vintage birth year integrated bracelet gold-tone prism crystal Seiko Quartz… just look at all those boxes I checked!

As for this one… it’s my first Hamilton (which is one of not many options for a legacy brand with real American heritage… yeah yeah it’s Swiss now I know 😩), first bronze piece, first no date (yes, I hate symmetry and all forms of art and culture), and first hand wound movement.

I’m also looking forward to naturally developing the patina and seeing how it turns out. I’ll be taking this on trips, hikes, dips in the ocean, night shifts at the coal mine, daily sulphuric hot spring baths, and wherever else will help me “earn my patina” like Hamilton’s Marketing department has told me I must.

If anyone has patina pics of this watch- natural, forced, lab grown, genetically modified, 3D printed, or otherwise- please share!

I’ve been eyeballing this watch for a few months now and am sorely tempted to pull the trigger on one… alas, with a newborn here now I don’t think it’s happening anytime soon 😔

Looking forward to seeing how this patinas over time!

Congrats 🎉! Not to worry- plenty of time and prices will likely continue to ease downward.

So it was you who typed faster than me! My partner thanks you! 😆

Congrats! That strap is the perfect choice for that watch. Something about that color and raw leather look .. nice!

Amazing choice, congrats!

Congratulations on a great watch!

Great watch . I have tried it on a couple of times. Then I tell myself that I can't have them all. I know. That is a crazy way of thinking.

Totally agree- Hamilton nailed the OEM strap choice! The thinness of the case (under 10mm) also has me thinking that I just may avoid my insatiable urge to modify the strap from double to single pass… but we shall see :)

I have been eyeing that one for a WHILE. Jomashop's inventory issues is probably the only thing that kept me from buying it more than a couple times. In the end i picked up the steel version a few days ago instead as more of an everyday wear. BUT it is still high on my list of favorite watches.

Congrats on the buy!

Agreed on Jomashop inventory issues… I’m 99% sure I clicked “notify me when back in stock” a while back, and 100% sure I didn’t get a notification… just checked it and by dumb luck it was there.

Congrats on the steel version, it is a banger as well!

Seems it was meant to be. 😃Interesting to see how it ages with the patina. Enjoy. 👍👍👍

Great choice, congrats!
