Any other examples of watches with crowns between 3 and 6? Crowns at 3 always dig into my hand when I lift myself up, so this is appealing.
EDIT: I should clarify I'm hoping for options under 1k. I'm leaning heavily towards finding a nice Seiko 5 sport but competition at the price point would be intriguing.

I never have this issue but of course all wrists are different. You must wear your watches loose and above the wrist bone (closest to your hand). Have you tried tightening straps/bracelets so the watch is above the wrist? Of course, there are plenty of options for crowns located elsewhere. Sinn U50, Mpmentum, Zodiac, Doxa and many others.
I never have this problem, but then I wear mine above the wrist.
Here's a Baltany at 1 o'clock, Vostok have several at 2, a Tandorio making use of that SKX case at 4, and I think most of the Komono fashion watches are also at 4.
My Anonimo Nautilo Vintage does that and the case shape means that the crown is a little more recessed in than a lot of other watches.
Another watch where the crown doesn’t stick out is the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Elite, a watch I’ve been thinking about for a while where almost the whole crown is hidden within the case when screwed down.
Bertucci crowns are almost all at the 4:00 position.

Oh these seem pretty affordable too! Are they a pretty quality tier brand?
I have several with 3 o'clock crowns and don't personally have any issues, however I also like watches with "different" crown positions - here are mine:

Not sure why the pick of my Boldr is showing up twice... Here's my other Seiko

They are really an entry level brand, with prices ranging from $65 up to $450, and they really only make field watch models. They have several patents for case and strap design. They offer models with cases made from a variety of materials including fiber reinforced polycarbonate, steel, titanium, and aluminum. They also have GMT and chronograph models, although all their movements are quartz. I have found them to be reliable and durable watches and would recommend Bertucci to anyone looking for a field watch.

Yes the recessed crown is a good call. I'm not sure if Seiko still do any, but my Pogue has it and it's a cute feature. I'm sure there must be some out there, or maybe it's a 60's 70's thing?
Baltic's Aquascaphe (£675), Farer's Endeavour (£1075) and Bremont's Argonaut (£3100) have dual crowns at 2 and 4.
Boldr Venture models (£300+) have a few with crowns at 4.
