commented on 3 watches (or brands) you would not want even for free. ·

Since they are unsellable then the 3 worst exotic watches, ( take your pick ), that can't be easily serviced and / or cost a bucket to service. Moser springs to mind with their fully in house movement. Beautiful watches but good luck with servicing if you don't have access to a specialist. And with the cost of insured shipping rising by the minute it can cost a grand for an each way trip just to send it to the factory for a service. Then there's the service on top.

I suspect that a lot of "exotics" get sold right at the time the owner finds out it needs a service. They buy the watch to be seen with it but can't really afford to own it. A bit like buying a Ferrari with your last dollar.

That's where "free" becomes a very costly PITA. Just buy an Omega if you want a bullet proof, easily and cost effectively serviced watch.

Sorry. Not meant to full stop you, I tried to delete my post because I hadn't read yours properly but the site wouldn't let me edit it out. I thought the simplest way was to use a period.

One hidden feature of mine is that having bought it during daylight hours in a well lit room I find that in darker environments it is all but impossible to tell the time with the polished hands.

commented on Can anyone take the “crown” from Rolex ·

King? In terms of brand recognition they will not be overtaken any time soon. I agree with many of the comments above regarding the aspirational motivation in owning a Rolex across nerds and non-nerds alike. Where they may come undone is in the supply side. For anyone who doesn't know the deal with Rolex, walking into an AD will be a confusing experience - "I'm finally able to buy my dream Rolex as a mark of all those years of work so I'll have a datejust please, white gold with a slate dial". "I'm sorry sir we can't sell you one". "What? This is a ROLEX store isn't it"? "Yes sir but we can't sell you a Rolex".

We know how it goes. Enough of this and the Rolex shine will seriously lose its lustre.

"Hmm, there's an Omega boutique just across the road. "Hello, can I buy an Omega"? "Why certainly sir, which one would you like"? "And if you wait till next week there's a special edition coming out".

Apart from cloning themselves it's also a virtual clone of a 2018 Omega CK2998 red second hand panda. I have the Omega but I can't call Seiko out for ripping the CK2998 off as Omega have done what so many have done and copied the Daytona, except they took the radical step of adding a red second hand. Hey everybody just copy everybody just copy everybody just co..............
