SOTC 2023

This is my main collection of watches. It's ever changing collection as I'm learning more about the hobby. I'm actually quite proud of a few of these, especially the Accutron Astronaut, Seiko Pogue, and Lunar Pilots. Future plans are to get a Citizen Tsuyosa and a Tissot Heritage 1938 and slim down the collection some (get rid of some of the repeats and like watches).

Edit: Can't believe I'm giving some of the snobbery in the comments this much energy, but here we go.... Sorry for this rampage in advance. Bulova has a rich history going back over 100 years, they made watches that solders and pilots wore to war, Bulova/accutron built the watches that some of the top air force pilots wore while flying experimental aircraft, the Lunar Pilot was the only other watch, beside the Omega Moonwatch, to be on the surface of the moon. They pioneered the tuning fork movements and currently build one of the most accurate quartz movements available. I bought these watches because of the rich history of the brand. Do they have some questionable designs out now? Yeah, some of them are down right ugly... but the ones I have all call back to their history. I didn't just go out and buy whatever without researching it first. The Accutron Astronaut is hardly a bulgari knock off, it has its own rich history and the two watches beside it are Bulova/Accutron made "homages" to the Astronaut. I bought the Citizen Eco Drive PCATs because I'm a tech nerd and those watches are some of the most feature rich watches available without being a smart watch. It's so cool that I can pick that watch up and it's going to be accurate to the exact second any time I wear it. As a kid I always thought the Citizen Eco Drive was something I would never be able to afford. I know now that there are much better out there but younger me is proud that I'm able to afford that watch now. None of my watches were bought at a mall, TJ Maxx, Marshalls or off QVC, they aren't fashion watches....I did research of the history of the brands and models of the watches before I bought any of them. I didn't realize there were "wrong Rado's" or "wrong Hamiltons". So I have to buy the Golden Horse or the Khaki Field for them to count? So I have to buy the exact watch you think I should buy to be a true watch enthusiast? Maybe I wanted the Khaki Pilot because it means something to me. Maybe that version of the Rado Purple Horse has family sentimental value, not to mention it's hard as all get out to find that exact model in good condition with a black dial. So if I find a watch I like it makes me a hoarder to have multiple versions of it? I understand we aren't all going to have the same opinions or tastes but none of us in here are right or wrong or better or worse than the other. I thought I left the cesspool that is the reddit watch groups behind when I came here...I don't mind constructive criticism, but going around acting like ones opinion is the only way, telling people to sell their collections, or calling people "fools" ain't it, sis....

Lovely collection my friend 👍🏾

Great looking collection! I love the aviation representation, especially that Bulova Astronaut reissue! That’s a low-key heavy hitter 💪. Keep on buying what brings a smile to your face, my friend. 🍻

**EDIT** On second glance, is that Astronaut an original?! And a Pogue? Awesome 👏

The bottom 2nd from the left is an original 1964 Astronaut. That was a grail for me from early on just knowing it's history and was really stoked to get it. I originally got the moonviews (the two similar but larger ones to the right of it) since they were more or less inspired by the Astronaut, just with the newer UHF quartz movement. I thought it was a missed opportunity that they didn't call that model the Astronaut 2. The Pogue I took a huge gamble on getting it on eBay, but it is all original as far as I can tell. I've had a few Pogue experts look at it and they said at least on the outside it's all original (minus the strap of course). I'm a space nerd so it made sense for that to inspire some of my watch choices. I would like to get a Moonwatch in the future, I'm thinking as a retirement gift to myself in 30 years lol. Thanks for the kind words.

i see you left room for a speedy!

Very nice collection. Im a big fan of Bulova vintage watches and re issues. I've had the Mil Ships in my basket for a while and it's going in the collection very soon.

Well said (your edit). Who cares for anyone else's opinion on your collection. If something brings you joy, do it.

When I first started seriously collecting watches, Bulova was one of my favourite brands to source: I wanted non contemporary watches during the 70s and 80s but also desired nice condition and somewhat wearable, there were a great many new old Bulova watches available from a few clever sellers who found unsold inventories from established watch and jewelry shops in small communities and agencies, an added benefit were the large catalogue of styles, perhaps knock off designs that were worth investigating that cost me dollars to own. I was a young man, caught quite a lot of condescending remarks from older, affluent collectors who viewed my modest collection as worthless, a waste of time. As long as you respect your collection, ignore the noise, suggest you develop some hard bark because your watches are entirely subjective, do not take too much offense from comments.

I like your collection @Gatecityradio! You've got a wide span of things going on here. LOVE the Pogue, especially!

Ignore the snobbery guy. If he can't even recognize the Astronauts, he has ZERO credibility regarding watch knowledge.

There are a number of killer pieces in there. The Astronaut is perpetually on my want list. That Rado is gorgeous. I’m especially drawn to the little unassuming Bulova all the way down in the bottom right corner.

Yeah, I was kinda shocked when he didn't know what an Accutron Astronaut was....and I'm supposed to be the noob? 😂

Oh the Bulova Military with the quartz UHF movement? Yeah I really like that one, I was going to get a Bulova Hack but I wanted something a little different.

That’s the one. I love that design. I was looking at the Longines Majetek but it looks so huge, I doubt I could wear it comfortably.

It's a bigger size for a military inspired watch, but not too bad. It's smaller than the lunar pilot. Not sure how this compares in size to the longines.

Spinnaker, Squale, Seiko, Citizen, Bulova, Hamilton... and more! Very well-rounded collection! 😃 Cheers! 🍷

P.S. Haters gonna' hate. But the voices of your well-wishers (like me! 😃) are an overwhelming cacophony compared to their weak, small, quiet squeaking. 😎
