Latest little donkeys to visit the Gasworks Spa.

So, over the past couple of weeks the Spa has had three more visitors from the 1970s.

This post's working title was "It's hip to be square" ๐Ÿ˜Ž

The first one is a 7005-7130 from December 1974. It wasn't completely clapped out but the case was pretty tired and the bracelet was only fit for the knackers yard. I particularly like the link fashioned from copper wire. Quality fix that; almost imperceptible.

A full service, a case refurb, a new crystal and a new leather strap later and it's looking much healthier.

I'm very happy to report that it's found a new home in Santiago, Chile. Awww.

The second one is another 7005. This one a 7011 from April 1970.

On the outside this one looked reasonable - I think someone had attempted to polish it but it wasn't done very well ๐Ÿ˜‘

...but it wasn't running at all well and the date change at midnight didn't work.

On inspection it was clear there had been significant water ingress.

I cleaned parts where possible but also made several trips to my spare parts box. I also managed to find an intermediate date wheel, which was missing - that's why it wasn't changing the date at midnight.

A new crystal and a new NATO strap to go with the service and case refurb and it's a much happier little donkey..

The third one is a 7006-7120 from February 1975.

Again, this watch wasn't in very poor condition but the case needed attention and I don't think the movement had ever been serviced.

The crystal is an unusual faceted acrylic but was very tired and needed to be replaced.

A thorough clean and service of the movement and a fair bit of work on the case and it looks much better.

Not really sure if the NATO strap works. Suggestions?

I think that's enough 1970s Seiko action for any sane person so..

Until next time lovely people ๐Ÿ’•

P.S. Very soon there'll be an update on the watch that @Aurelian donated. After knackering the dial I've explored options to make good my incompetence. Think Airstream..

Gareth I am a fan :)

Great work again, the last one looks good on that nato but what about blue leather with white stitching (blue on blue van be a bit much but as the dial is a darkish blue I reckon it will go)

The dial is actually two shades of blue. A darker square in the centre and lighter blue towards the edge.

I'll see if I have a blue strap here somewhere.

That last one needs the standard Gasworks Light Blue Nato that Diran and I both had from you?

All lovely work as usual! That white dial square cleaned up very nicely!

That last one sold yesterday with the NATO as above. Just after I ordered a different strap as advised by @Stricko ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿคฃ

The white dial now lives in South America. It's like America... but South. (One of my favourite lines from Up! - I am basically 12)

If you don't get at least a lump in your throat at the end of the opening sequence then you aren't human. ๐Ÿคฃ
