Fellow Canadians...

I have a few interrogations about Jomashop and I would certainly be grateful to hear from you if you have decided to buy from this online store. If my research are good they are based in Brooklyn?

Is the shipping long? Expensive? Do you have tips as far as delivery methods etc?

I'm in Montréal and I fear that the price will get way higher after paying duty and delivery... Am I wrong?

If i for instance buy a watch for 150 Canadian how much more will I pay at the end?

I feel that amazon prices for most Seiko 5 are to expensive. I've seen some on Jomashop for almost half the price but is it worth it after paying for shipping etc?

Thank you!

And of course any of you who wants to share some experience no matter where you live you are welcome to do so!

The currency option at the top of their page can be switched to CDN. The delivery is a week to 10 days. At checkout they give you the option to handle the taxes and duties for you or you pay it on delivery. It's cheaper if you handle the duties and taxes on it. I think there is a dollar amount that is exempt from duties of around 200 bucks. Sometimes the total for the lower priced watches comes out about even compared to a lot on Amazon. I got 6 watches from them and had nothing but good service from them. They handle their own warranty (2 years i think) which is usually money back and they don't try to just fix it. Don't forget a lot of their Seiko 5's use the older non-hacking movement and are old stock usually. One watch I got sat on someones shelf for 5 years but was still cheaper than buying the movement in it.

I’m not Canadien but have purchased from Jomashop multiple times without incident. On top of that, use the Rakuten app to get additional cash back. Currently you get 2% back which doesn’t seem much but can cover some of the shipping costs. I am not affiliated or sponsored by Jomashop or Rakuten in case you’re curious.

I haven't bought from Jomashop, but expect duties and brokerage fees to add 15-20%.

CBSA agrees, after typing that I found this handy calculator.

Be careful what you buy from them. I ordered a Seiko Essential quartz from them that was clearly used and had bezel damage and a spot on the dial, indicating that they had replaced the crystal. They had the nerve to accuse me of damaging the watch and refused any return or refund!!!!

On valuable items I record the unboxing so there's no question what I received. 👍

I'm so glad you're asked about Jomashop... they are the worst

I bought my Dad a Hamilton Navy Pioneer from then as a gift for around $850 or so. I got the watch, flew to Washington a week later and presented it to my Dad, he wore it the first day and it was losing a couple hours half way through the day. I looked and could see the balance was sticking, it was broken.

I called them and expected they would simply send a new one since they shipped me a broken watch. They did not, they didn't even think it was broken and thought I didn't know what I was talking about, very questioning and skeptical, finally they said the only option is to send it to them to be fixed by their 3rd party watch maker.

I was pretty mad but I shipped it back to them at my expense. After a couple weeks went by I never heard from them I could see they had already received it almost 2 weeks prior so I called to check the status. They were very rude and told me they didn't receive it yet, I told them I can see they got it 2 weeks ago, guy gets mad and says they get back 1500 watches every day and it takes a long time for their recieving department. He must have been lying or they sell a shitload of broken watches every day to be getting over 1000 returns per day. It took them almost 3 months to "fix" the broken watch they sold me , I had to make a fuss with them so they would ship it back to my Dad and not me in another state because they only wanted to ship it to my address.

When my Dad got it back it was broken worse, didn't run at all and couldn't be winded by hand either. I called and they had me send it back for repair again, and my Dad had to pay to ship it back to them again. It took another 3 months to fix and when he got it back it still never ran right, it would die overnight sitting on the nightstand and he couldn't wind it by hand so he would have to always be resetting it etc.

The whole time they were extremely rude and every time I would call after a few weeks to see when the watch would be fixed they were hostile and rannoyed, they never once emailed me or called me with a status update and treated me like a asshole for wanting to know when the watch would be fixed.

I know people say they have bought watches no problem from Jomashop, but I would never give them a dime for anything... and I'd never buy a Hamilton again either. They have cheap prices because they have shit service and probably selling factory rejects or returns, it's not worth saving $75 and risking their trash warranty policy.

I also bought from Long Island watch, they are perfect, incredible service, instant response to emails, any problem they fix it instantly and they are authorized dealers for everything they sell.

I have also bought and sold a couple watches from Watchbox, total flawless instant perfect service, they ship instantly, amazing company to buy from, I completely trust them and would buy or sell from them over any other grey market company. Avoid Jomashop, they are garbage, a total nightmare.

That sounds horrible. I don't blame you for flaming them.

I'm in Montreal too. I've ordered from JomaShop and the process is very simple. You can switch pricing to Canadian which helps figure out how much everything is going to be. At checkout you will see the shipping fees added to the invoice. They are steep but I didn't have to pay more at delivery. It took about 3-4 days to get the watch at my door. Shipping delays may vary.

But... make sure the watch you want is IN STOCK. Otherwise it may take much longer to receive.

I buy from Jomashop from time to time, they usually provide shipping and custom cost once you start to check out.. it's usually about an extra $60. Having said that I just recently started buying from them via their eBay site. It's easier, cheaper and includes all shipping fees.

May you provide a ebay seller in particular? They have a ebay account there?

·

Yes, Jomashop has an eBay account and you can browse their catalogue just like their website
