I can't decide what Omega I want

Hello Watchcrunchers, I have been eye balling Omega watches for a long time. Used and new still can't figure out what I want. I don't own one yet, I've been wanting a Speedster for the longest time BUT I prefer the simplicity of the Seamaster. What are your thoughts, what would you be buying and why?

Advises are always welcome when it comes to larger purchases

If Vintage, I would take the seamaster, if AD, I would take the speedy.

·

Thanks for the advice @marcep

·

I'd be happy with a vintage Constellation or Seamaster or a newer used broad arrow Speedy (ref 3594.50), but I'm in the "beggars can't be choosers" boat when it comes to stuff like Omegas.

·

Thanks Todd, I really dig the constellation collection too

·

Vintage Seamaster are really good watches for a fair price. The enjoyment/price ration is fantastic! For example the 2531.80 (you get a good one at around 2500$) or the 2254.50 (you get good one at around 3000$)

·

I could not either. Now i have 4.

Just visit your local AD, contrary to Rolex ADs, they are very friendly and will show you everything! E.g. i never liked the Speedmaster, since i've only seen it in pictures. But seeing it in person totally changed my mind and now i own one.

Also don't forget about the vintage style Seamaster 300 234.30.41.21.01.001

MSRP was like 7.800€ but you can get them for 5.700€ new.

Also don't be afraid to get the older Speedmaster Models (3570.50.00), they are ~4.500€ for the Hesalite model in near new condition.

I have a Seamaster, I would also really love to have a Speedmaster! Hope that helps you with your dilemma.

·

I would look towards an Aqua Terra. I think the AT is of the most beautiful and versatile line of watches.

·

Tough call. I browsed your collection (very nice by the way) and you have both dress/sporty and dive watches. I agree with @mer1981. Visiting your AD a few times would really help in making the decision. Seeing watches via images does not compare to seeing them in person and getting them on wrist.

I Have the SMP and Speedmaster (purchased the SMP first as I lean towards dive watches). @drianx is absolutely correct about the Aqua Terra line it's fantastic. That's the next Omega for me to complete the trilogy sort of speak.

Good luck Frank.

Globemaster in blue - at least that's what I'm dreaming of. Modest and elegant. And somewhat rare comparing to Seamasters

·

All used off eBay -

2015 Seamaster 300 - paid £3500

Early Aqua Terra quartz - £1300

1976 Mariner 1 paid £400 as a non runner, currently off being restored.

Buy used, save a fortune & get a nicer watch for the money.

Have thought about a Speedmaster, but not a fan of chronographs, handwriting or high service costs!!

Good Luck, look forward to seeing what you get 👍🏻

It’s a tough choice.. I would go for modern day Seamaster Professional 300m. One on the most gorgeous divers in my option. I have a green variation and I tend to keep looking at it when I wear it..

Enjoy it and few years down the line buy a Speedmaster which has its own charm. I have a different variation that not professional

Thanks my friend

my first omega was the seamaster, then speedy, then another seamaster, then another master. haha

I’ve got a feeling that unless the speedmaster is tugging at your heart you will be better off with a Seamaster it’s a better everyday watch and with the details and finishing of it you will never get bored looking at it the Seamaster has perhaps the best crystal I’ve ever seen on any watch it just disappears from view. Speedmaster is very restrained in comparison. Maybe an Aqua tera would fit inbetween them and work well for you. Fantastic watches all you will not regret getting an omega.👍

I have both a Speed and Sea master. (Yesterday I bought a second Seamaster😍) I bought the Speedy first. I should have bought the Seamaster first. My daily driver is a Seamaster 300 Heritage in blue. It is a total sleeper in the Omega catalog. It has a FANTASTIC movement with jumping your hand, great case and bracelet and can be bought new or like new for a fraction of Retail. I bought mine 2 months old with full box and papers AND a valid warranty card for 4K USD on eBay. A similar one sold yesterday on eBay for 4100.

I put mine on mesh but the factory bracelet is great with micro adjust. It’s also fantastic on a nato.

Also it’s slightly smaller than the 300pro. 41 vs 42 and a slightly shorter L to L. I have a 7.5 inch/19cm wrist for comparison.

I found the auction from yesterday. I think this model is the best value on the secondary market right now as far as modern Omega goes. The rail master is good too but this is better

I wanted something different and bought the Constellation Globemaster AC. Incredible watch and not the usual suspects. Good luck!

·

The Speedmaster was always my favorite Omega I do not know why it’s one of those things you like it just because. I would opt for a Speedy but at the end of the day it’s what you desire most and if the Seamastwr is that then need I say more?

For what it’s worth I just picked up a vintage Seamaster 300 ref. 165.024 which I prefer over the newer 300 references mainly for its Royal Marine heritage.
