Nano or picobrand watches

So I have an idea that I keep coming back to and I thought I'd see if there's any input here.

While I think it would be really cool to start my own microbrand in fully aware that would be a larger commitment, both monetarily and time, than I currently have. So I have the idea of doing a limited series of say 25 watches as nanobrand or picobrand.

I have a couple dial designs I plan to finish and after having the series made for me I'd pair that with an off the shelf case and possibly custom hands.

This is likely a pipe dream but my wife is really supportive of the idea. I know this isn't a get rich scheme but if it breaks even I'd be happy.

So theoretically, would you buy from an extra small brand, assuming you liked the look of the watch?

How would you handle after sales service, warranty work?

Sounds intriguing. I’d be interested in showcasing them through my store site.

Since the a dial would scale somewhat I'd be looking to see what case really spoke to me. I like the idea of a 9000 series movement but that depends on what I could find if I go through with it.

I would, but only for an inexpensive piece so I would be able to accept just chucking it if it had a problem when the brand was no longer around.

It'd be a mix of myself and possibly a local watch repairman. In either event it's something I'll definitely have spelled out if I move forward. I assume a 2 year limited warranty would acceptable.

sure, if it isnt an expensive one i would bought one for sure

I love the different and unique, so would absolutely go for a super small batch nanobrand watch. 👍

There are so many different variables involved, but if you’re passionate about it and make a watch that you will love and not a watch that the public will love then I don’t think you can go wrong. We all know the watch community has an opinion about every little thing so you can’t please everyone. I hope this is a successful journey for you. All these awesome micro brands started somewhere.

My favourite watch is my Clemence Watches Photic Diver that was made in small batches so I’d be interested just keep us updated on status and design.

I would do 1 of 1 fifty fathoms! 🤩

Yes if it's a design I like I'd definitely appreciate a micro micro brand .

None of the big kids have made my perfect watch yet. If you figure it out I'll buy it.

That's easily done, drop me a pm if you're interested.

Normally I would say this is a bad idea but the way you talk about scale and service gives me faith in you.

Considering that capable divers, handwind chronographs, and even tourbillons now can be had for less than $500, that's my personal price limit for watch buying and that's the price limit I'd advise you set for your watch.

So, what kind of watch are you thinking about designing?
