Have you guys bought multiple variations of the same watch?

The Citizen NY0040 has been one of my favorite divers in my collection. It’s affordable, robust, and quite unique in it’s aesthetic. It’s become a favorite of mine and quite addicting to collect at it’s affordable price point.

Since purchasing my blue dial NY0040, I’ve gone on to purchase the full-lume and black dial variations as well.

Are there any watches in your collection that are duplicates or same model? If so, why or why not.

I think my monochromatic tendency sort of keeps this from happening because, at most, I'd end up buying the white on black version of a black on white watch I already owned, which isn't that different feeling. I do own two marathon navigators now, but basically everything about the steel and fiber shell versions are different except the general shape and the dial. Plus, I probably won't keep the old one.

Top 3 are the 2022 Zelos Spearfish. All have the La Joux Perret G100 movement. One has a bidirectional bezel (white dial). Different colors and textures. There are 3 others to this line which I would like to add over the years.

I know what you mean. I probably wouldn’t recommend it to someone else either, but I personally wanted the other ones haha. I guess I justify it by eventually keeping the one I like most and getting rid of the others eventually.

Good point on playing it safe with monochrome, it fits the most amount of straps and fashion styles.

In regards to the Navigator, they are very different watches. Although they may look the same shape wise, I’m sure they’re vastly different in terms of wrist feel.

I loved my first Seamaster so much I decided to buy a second in blue. Wouldn’t change that decision.

Very cool collection! I don’t own a Zelos personally, but I can see the appeal. Although the same case, I can see how the various colors allow you to accessorize with your outfits.

There are more to be had but I'm done with all divers - I have more than enough. In retrospect, I should have kept it to less than six, but these are the things one learns as a new collector. 😉

Yes. Seiko 5....

·

Bought and sold several Seiko SSK001, 003 and 005. Just love the way they look.

·

I just got my second Seiko 5 SNXS, a 79 (black dial) to accompany the 73 (silver dial) I got just a few months ago. Neo vintage, or new old stock, a classic that is now out of production, available for good price as final stock is being cleared out.

I was taken with how elegant yet versatile they are and the current equivalent seems to have moved up to the Prospex level. Justified the second one to be modified to more current specks. So now I’ll have a stock model and a custom “hot rod” version because, I need two to be able to compare and contrast them. 😉

Just bought two Citizen bullheads. Eyeing two more. 😁

For me it's also a Citizen but a chronograph, specifically with the E610 caliber.

I'm still on the hunt for many more... 😂

Wowww!!! I now have another watch on the wishlist. I didn’t know Citizen made divers like these they look great

They’re fantastic! They were used by the Italian Navy in the late 90s. Definitely recommend.

That is soooo cool wow! They do look very tool watch oriented which I like

·

I have the SKX 007 and 009, also Casio Duro in stainless steel and the two-tone. Even though duplicates, the color schemes give each watch its own distinctive personality. Plus the fact that the SKX and Duro are solid watches, it doesn't hurt to have more than one!
