Show us your kitchen timers!

Aloha me Crunchniks! Sure, we all love to give that diving bezel on the beloved Plopoff / Shtupmariner / 50Fartings etc. some action - even if it's usually just timing the perfect 20-minute egg. Well would you believe it, there are some weirdos who insist using a special tool watch even for that!

And, I admit it freely, I am one of them. Pictured above is a family heirloom from the 30s; it was re-dialed at some time by my grandfather's hand. To this day it keeps time (my eggs are always perfectly rock-hard), and when it rings, it does so with a grace and panache that is unheard of from any digital wristwatch. And all it takes to get the magic going is one simple twist of the hand.

What about you, what makes your kitchen tick? Show us what times your tea, what browns your duck, what gets your noodles al dente!

PS: I wonder if anybody ever made a mechanical wristwatch with a ringing-kitchen-timer-bezel complication, sorta like a chef watch? Microbrands, take note!

I'd love to know more about your kitchen timer.  It looks vaguely like the USA Big Ben alarm clocks of the era, but I've never seen a kitchen timer like that.

'Fraid there isn't much to tell - there's no inscriptions anywhere. As mentioned, the dial was redrawn by hand on a piece of cardboard, my Grandpa fixed and repainted it at some time. It was most likely made in the 30s or 40s in Germany. It's 65mm x 38mm, the casing is tin, the feet and holder are brass.

Nothing unique here. All readily available on Amazon but they get a lot of use!
