Tissot Sideral vs Ball Fireman Racer

I am thinking about getting my first auto watch sine last spring when Tissot Sideral came out. In September came across the BALL BALL FIREMAN RACER. I want to hear what Crunchers think, should I get the best of what Tissot have to offer or an entry to a higher tier brand. Tissot design, color and materials resonate a lot, but the Ball looks like true GADA watch, and my current collection is missing bracelet, besides, Ball is rarely seen (and I like that I can wear something rear and quirky, both Sideral and Ball fulfilling this).

Ball uses ETA 2824-2 movement with 38 hour reserve, definitely Tissot with powermaric80 have advantages, but Ball offers some magnetic and shock resistance. Tissot is around 1000 EUR, Ball 1400 EUR. Both are not available in Latvia, but in February I will spend a week in Amsterdam and will try them on.

Lume on both stands out us well

The Ball is an objectively better watch in terms of finishing and quality of materials. The design of the Tissot is very charming though. Sounds like a win win to me 👍

Deep down I feel something strange, and it says that I will end up with both of them 😅

The tissot is on my short list, I tried one on and thought it was a fun watch. I had a ball fireman nightbreaker and really liked. Objectively is a better watch but neither is a bad choice.

Saw the tissot at a store a few days ago and was unimpressed. Looks way cooler in photos than it does in person. I’d pass on it.

I have a couple of Ball watches in my collection and like them very much, would recommend if you buy at discount from MSRP.

If you're looking for a GADA I say go for the Ball. That one you can dress up or down without reservation. The Sideral is good but it wouldn't qualify as a true GADA in my eyes. A beater, definitely but not a GADA if you can't sneak one into a dress and tie event.

I had a Ball Fireman Racer until recently. It’s a great watch, kept time accurately. Mine had a black dial with red Arabics at 36&9. I also liked the lume. The bracelet is good quality but unfortunately had a butterfly clasp. Overall I would recommend this watch which can be worn in most situations.

The Tissot is a different watch altogether. More of a very well made interesting, young, fun weekend/ holiday watch in my opinion. The power reserve is a definite plus for the Tissot though and a black strap would perhaps make it a bit less ‘shouty’ for everyday use. Overall these watches are so different it just depends on what type of watch you want.

Well, if Tissot fits well an looks great, I have no reason to not wear it with white shirt and suit, like the Casio Protrek I have. It would be another playful accessory. But first, I need to check them both on.

Tanks!

I voted Ball. I have 2 Ball Watches'. Both Fireman. Nightbreaker. & Stormchaser.

But that Tissot is da bomb. I would buy that in a heartbeat if I hadn't just spent a shameful amount on my latest.
