My birth year watch...1970 Timex Electric

Timex electric that ruins on a battery. I wanted a birth year watch and found this on Ebay. Growing up my grandfather use to wear Timex watches and being in my 50s, I remember the Timex commercials. I put it on one of the elstic bands that that timex use to come on one I was a kid. Simple, ugly, and weird but it's mine.

So cool! I’ve been looking for a Timex or Seiko from my birth year too… just haven’t found one I like yet. Yours is great!

Dang I really love it 🥰

Thanks for posting!

Not ugly at all - pure class!

I still think "birth year watches" are a ridiculous idea, but this watch is fantastic as is the period choice of band.

·

Very nice love the dial, enjoy it in good health!

·

Cool piece, bud. Congrats and enjoy!

Beautiful!

Wouldn’t mind a 61 Submariner, or a Seamaster , I can dream I suppose…

You must've mistakenly posted the wrong picture because there isn't an ugly watch anywhere in sight!

BTW a weathered tobacco brown strap would really elevate the look and save some of your wrist hairs from brutal extinction.

·

Wow that is a gorgeous and unique Timex!

Is that Sheldon in the corner?

Lol no... I was watching a watch channel on YouTube

·

Wdym? It's not ugly at all

·

Very cool looking Longines, you dont see that style of hands from them anymore, almost like a pseudo Breguet style

·

I would not call simple, ugly or weird. In fact if you are a fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm you may have noticed that very model\dial was featured in an episode. But besides that it is also among the very few vintage Timex that feature roman numerals. The m40 electric movement inside was the base for many variations of the electro mechanical that Timex developed.

Consider replacing the strap with a black leather croc grain just like in the picture below.

It's a beauty for sure! Congrats! 👍

Am trying to find a similar 1978 Timex quartz to commemorate the year I graduated High School 😀
