Struggling to make the hard decision when a watch is ready to move on...

Beginning to consider letting this SJE093 go for something like a Monta Noble, Longines Spirit, or Formex Essence. Something with some dang color. I could even use the funds to potentially get a grail like a TAG Glassbox.

I know this is going against the trend here, but maybe small vintage inspired watches aren't my thing like I thought. This is reinforced by my short time owning a Black Bay 54.

Not looking for financial advice, but I really have a hard time letting watches go, especially when it comes to pieces that are hard to re-buy, like this Seiko.

My thinking is, if everytime I look at this on my wrist and think "only if it was 2 mm bigger, then it'd be perfect," then why keep it? I must gravitate more towards divers around the 40-42 mm size and regular sports watches 38-40, so why keep this, especially if it doesn't get the wrist time it deserves.

What are your thoughts on making this hard call when a watch isn't getting the love it deserves?

I personally think all of this is a necessary part of discovering what you really like. With that perspective this watch fulfilled exactly what it needed to and was therefore a successful purchase. When deciding whether to keep it or use it to fund a new watch, I heard some great advice a few months ago. Try putting the watch away somewhere so you don't have access to it for a month or two (under a bed or in a safety deposit box or something similar). Love without it for a while and you'll be able to tell if you miss it or not. If not, easy sell.

Excited to hear what you end up picking/the eventual NWA!

I'm much the same. Have a hard time letting go, even when I know it's time to move on. I've found that once the date enters your mind, there's a reason for that. Like @Shai879 said, out it away for a month or so and revisit.

But you like what you like. I'm in the same boat. The lowest I like is 39mm. 38mm max it it has good presence. Despite the trend being smaller and more demure. It's just not my thing, so I don't try to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Your wrist, your rules, my friend!

In my opinion, the watch looks like a great fit on your wrist. But ultimately, it’s about how YOU feel about the watch. I may be wrong here, but it seems that you prefer a larger wrist presence for your dive watches. Maybe try on something larger for a while and see if it works (or not). Who knows, you may fall back in love with the SJE after some time apart 😂

I've never sold one yet. But I have one I've been on the verge of selling for over a year, just can't seem to pull the trigger. Need to list it up on Chrono24 and just see what happens. I like it, but don't really LIKE like it. And I got it for a great price. Which is a double edge sword. I can sell it on for a few hundred dollar profit, but on the flip side, I probably won't be able to replace it for anywhere near what I originally paid. I hate decisions....

I've always worn slightly smaller watches at 36-38mm. As of late, I find myself really getting into 39-42mm watches, even with my 6.25" wrists. Not all watches need to be big, and not all need to be smaller. Certain designs just work better in different size cases. I say all of this to say, I've learned to appreciate watches of most sizes by not wishing they were smaller or larger, but just enjoying them for what they are. Keeping an open mind is important with watches. At the end of the day, if you've owned it for a while, and you're still not into it I'd just move it and not look back. I've rebought two different watches and both times I ended up selling again. There's a reason I sold them in the first place ;)

Have you considered a colorful band?

Monochromatic watches are often strap monsters

Maybe that's just what it needs. Maybe a green band.

Personally I think it looks great on your wrist.

I think it is a gorgeous watch that deserves a place in your collection. The 46mm lug to lug is perfect for your wrist. That being said, you could try it on a bracelet which would make the watch appears bigger.
