And yeah, controversial brand for sure. I think all the big brands have plenty of covered up dirt that is overlooked by most customers. The Oceanrover is absolutely a homage, but the Silent Service stands on its own (imo).

Love it. Gets more wear than anything else.
Susprisingly, Ginault feels a step above in quality. I'll give a breakdown:
Bracelet: basically the same. Monta slightly wins because of originality.
Bezel: Ginault. Smoother PERFECT 120 click. Best action I've ever felt. It's also a lume monster. Both are incredible tho.
Dial: Monta is cleaner. I prefer a 6 date and enjoy that it has less text. Montas black is perfect.
Movement: Monta is better, though Ginault is just as accurate, maybe even more
Wear: Monta wears a little bit smaller. I like this.
Overall: Ginault. I got it for less than half the price. Could buy this for less than $1,000 and quit the watch game.
Totally agree. I firmly believe the Ginault is the best value in watches. I got my Silent Service for $900 and the fit and finish is on-par with my Omegas and Rolexes I've handled.
