Hamilton Pilot Pioneer Mechanical

Love this thing. The picture doesn’t do the dial justice but it has this incredibly detailed finishing and the history of its partnership with the RAF in the early 1970’s gives it some more significance and uniqueness!!

Beautiful watch 😍

It's one of Hamiltons best and most photogenic watches.

One of my favs! 👍

·

My favorite from the brand. Great photo!

·

My god that’s sexy. And the shot is perfect too

·

Of course seiko would win in a group that all has better finishing for the price, more likely to be more accurate and certainly better QC. That being said. I do love seiko anyway.

·

It’s soooo good.

I’ve heard you can’t use Polywatch to buff scratches… how do you deal with them yourself? I’m super tempted by this one…

·

Nice, I have the blue one

This is my 1974 6bb. Hamilton did a great job with pilot pioneer, keeping the case size the same but not falling in to pastiche by adding the tritium T or broad arrow mark.

You're right, the photos really don't do the dial justice.

Wholeheartedly agree!

Enjoying mine!

Love mine!

I went the route of the CWC version! Frikkin’ love the design. Would be interesting to compare the two!

It doesn’t have the faux patina to the lume on the CWC so it feels like NOS dug up somewhere from someone’s safe! 😄

Damn. I really don’t need another Hami… but that’s soooo handsome!

·

This one is very nice !

Very nice!

I like this watch. But what I don't understand the $250 premium over the Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm on a NATO. They're powered by the same movement but use different cases. Thoughts?

I have the khaki mechanical, it's just a watch you have to see in the flesh to understand

There is something different about it. Not trying to compare this to Grand Seiko by any means, but you see those YouTube videos about the snowflake, white birch, or “Lake Suwa” dials and you’re like, “yea those look nice.”

Then you see it in person and you’re like, “oh, Van Gogh must have painted that.”

I’ve worn this fairly regularly for almost 2 years now and only have one little scuff mark on the left hand side of the case maybe .5 millimeters across. I barely notice it and since then have incurred a few more dings but honestly I think it adds character. I don’t think it’s a watch to wear with fear of scratching it or dinging it. I think that adds personality to it more than anything, but to answer your question it’s durable enough to issue to the RAF so unless you’re 9-5 involves dogfights at noon you should be good to go!! lol
