Bezel trouble

I’ve had this for about a year I think, I bought it used on eBay and put this Uncle bracelet on it as I just can’t love the original one. It keeps time just fine, not great but fine by Seiko standards, my issue is the bezel is so tough to turn. I’m not too hung up on it but yesterday I ran it under water turning the bezel and I think it may have eased up a little but not much.

So I have questions for you guys…

Is this typical turtle behavior? If not would a local watchmaker be able to fix it? Should I try and fix it myself, and if so, how?

Again, not too big a deal, I don’t wear it too much and rarely use the bezel and living with it as it is doesn’t bother me at all and maybe I should just leave well enough alone here.

Couple of drops of lightweight oil.

Fortunately it's probably an easy fix. Probably just due to buildup. You could probably pop off the bezel yourself (YouTube can show you how to safely) and give it a toothbrush cleaning (little to no moisture) but if you don't feel confident a watchmaker could sort it out for you for cheap.

Pop a blade between the bezel and the case and gently prise them apart. Clean the gasket and click spring (or better still replace them for $10-15) and reassemble. The bezel should click back into place if you apply pressure on it with a book.

Alternatively, a watchmaker told me to use a little WD40.

I've got a bronze case turtle style watch that the bezel is hellishly hard to turn, but once I manage to turn it around once or twice it loosens up. They are on pretty tight with this case design and it you don't turn it often it can stiffen up.

Turn the watch case upside down with the crystal facing the ground and put the edges of the bezel along the webbing of your hand between the thumb and forefinger so that the entire bezel is circled by your hand, grip tight and turn the case with your other hand. With the extra grip it will break free pretty easily. If you don't have the strength to try it this way use a silicone jar opening mat from the kitchen, those things will grip anything.

If it persists then for sure take it to a watchmaker for some oil.

This may be my favorite idea.

I have the exact same Turtle with the exact same Uncle bracelet. I can’t decide if I like the bracelet, because it seems to have a slightly different “hue” than the watch case. Do you notice that with yours?

If it's lined up properly it's probably a fake LOL!!! And if it is lined up just leave it alone - Why and what are you really tooling/measuring with that bezel 😂🤣😆

If you don't need to use it, means it ain't broke to you. Leave it alone. I have sufficient high cost lessons by now this is valuable advice from our ancestors.

This is most likely to be the outcome.

Awwww man! If it’s stuck the way it is I’m not even mad about it. It’s lined up, I’ll give it that.

Mine seems pretty legit to me on the hue, I’ll say one of the end links isn’t perfect but it’s pretty close.
